I take all the scrap metal I generate to the council recycling centre along with all my gardening waste. They won't take any DIY materials for free though, you now have to pay for that. That's why there's so much fly-tipping around these parts either that or someone is really bad at guerrilla mosaics.

I have an 11spd one now...Why wouldn't you put it in your metal recycling bin?

Yes, but I'm lucky to live within about half mile of my council recycling place. To be honest I'd probably chuck them in the 'landfill' bin otherwise, like presumably the vast majority of the borough who aren't going to commute across a big chunk of central London to dispose of stuff. @hippy a metal bin? Only supposed to put food cans, paper, plastic in the main recycling bin here.

Anyone here send their worn chains / cogs to scrap or recycle? It feels wrong to send all this material to landfill.
