• Gardening peeps!
We've inherited a lovely garden with the place we've bought but haven't had to actively garden in the last 13 years and even then, it was in NZ where everything pretty much grew all year round. I've now got most of the tools I need for maintenance. The garden includes some lovely specimens including a bottle brush, a large Oliander (sp?), one established Hydrangea (which I've dead headed), a fern and nice and huge Rosemary plant. We've spent the long weekend at Ruxley Manor and Polhill garden centres (spent a shit load!) and have purchased a climbing rose, a bushy rose, 2 more Hydrangeas and some more alpine style plants for the rock garden. Dude who used to live here clearly understood the seasons as there's many bulbs coming up at the moment. Anyone know what this is? About up to much knee and about to flower.

I'm now decidedly middle age and I fucking love gardening. Keep your pics coming as I love to see what everyone is doing. I really like your garden @oat44, I really need to let go of the urge to trim everything to be perfect to get a more country garden vibe happening. I need some pots I think!

  • Loving the double shed action too.

  • I don't know if you have a cat but irises (and most lilies in general) and cats do not mix. The pollen and all the other parts are toxic but the pollen once on them ends up licked off and in them and affects their kidneys apparently. Death is usually 3 to 6 days later. Just FYI.
