It's almost as if suspension is optional
-
• #9953
Optimal, yes.
Well done for riding a rigid there, butt. I rode a rigid 26" at Afan for a year or so until I couldn't take it any more.

Optimal would be staying at home.

Less retro, moar Stumpjumper!

I was fortunate to be lent a mtb and get a guided ride round some of the less extreme parts of the cli-machx trail last week.
Still managed to fall off once; but then, last time I was on a mtb, suspension hadn't been invented.
It was a massively awesome experience. I think a mtb may be on my shopping list at some point.

Anyone know using or know someone who's using one of the Tranz-x 27.2 external droppers? They're about £110 posted from Italy
Not sure how I feel about drilling holes in my alu frame for an internal one

If you don't need a remote or >100mm drop, I just got one of these for my Explosif and it's an absolute steal
-
• #9960
It would be wrong to get one of these for my XC race biek, right?

Not if you want to enjoy life

Pffft where's the fun in that?

Pain with a side order of hurt and bruised gonads pls

I have an eten, but with a remote. It's good

I've been looking for a cheap none shit 27.2 dropper for a while, can you give a brief review of build quality/function i.e. How it operates and if there is rattle/play etc
Would be hugely appreciated.

• #9966
Mine (basically the same) hasn't rattled or produced any play. It's smooth blah blah.
It goes up and down. Get one. Get one for every bike you own.

Is it easy to crotch grab while moving/getting rad?
-
• #9968
It's a KS post. It will be nice whilst it works. When it doesn't work, it won't work.
As with most MTB bits that have pressurised gas and / or oil in them, it's worth considering the chances of a warranty repair / replacement and shop support should they go wrong.
-
• #9969
So it's not just one of those with a spring and a pin?
-
• #9970
Mine has a remote, but I crotch grab anyway.
It has a sealed 'air stick' unit inside, which can be replaced with a £20 one on alibaba, apparently.
You can buy one from an LBS and not worry about warranty.
One point: 27.2 gives you only 100mm of drop, so if you're particularly tall, you might not get the range you want.

Anyone know who there uk distro is?
-
• #9972
No idea but you have PM

Might be Jungle Products. That's what a quick google picked up.
It's this post FWIW.

100mm is OK, crotch grab is OK. Not perfect but then it's £60 ish all in.
From eBay it will be a punt, but then again a £60 new air / hydraulic dropper should be a punt. Not sure if the UK distro will honor as it's shipped from Germany.

As the man says. Grab crotch, get rad. It's pretty smooth, very little play. Easy enough to operate with one hand on the bars.
Warranty from a German shop selling through eBay might be difficult I guess but at £55 I'm not complaining.

I was thinking more along the lines of seeing if it's a similar price through U.K. Distro and getting it on trade. Will look into it tomorrow.
Why would I want a full boinger? Even more moving parts for Wales to kill :(
