GXP bottom brackets, are they really that bad?

I had slight play in my gxp bottom bracket and replaced it about a month ago and the movement has come back. I've done around 1000miles on the new bottom bracket.

Just stopped in a local bike shop. They had a look and tried to tighten the crankset which didn't work. They said the bottom bracket needs replacing.

They recommened I buy a sram to shimano adapter and so I can use shimano type bottom brackets.

Anyone have experience of this?

My advice would be is to take it to a different reputable LBS, explain the story, then ask them to try and rectify it.

If the cranks are tight what else could be causing radial movement in the bottom bracket?

The little nylon insert on the Drive Side might have wandered out of the bearing and up the spindle? Sometimes they need a small spacer between the spider and the DS cup, or between the DS cup and the frame.

Misalignment between the left and right threads. Either non parallel non concentric or a combination. I.e. a frame machining error.
