  • It also said "custom inner brake cable" without the "s" on cable.

Odd, last part about set is definitely worth asking.

  • One measly stupid proprietary vision nipple.

Which is precisely the problem... I already have several perfectly nice sets of brake cables to fit sram, shimano and campag, but no... FSA have to be different.

Stupid TT biek, I'll go back to running if it keeps causing me trouble.

  • The picture shows two cables and it says in the description 'includes front and rear' so it's entirely reasonable to expect two cables.

  • Random one - does anyone know where to get a cheap suit carrier from? Don't mind if it's one of the ones from a dry cleaners but I've left mine out of town and I'm travelling to a wedding tomorrow.

  • Well, Campag cable is different to Shimano/SRAM...

  • Anyone here can or know anyone that can cut out the parts for making a wooden wheel truing stand as shown in Roger Musson's wheel building e-book?

  • What's the best cycling jacket?

I would like one that could be packable and if possible fit into my rear jersey pocket.

  • Best in what way? -wind resistance? Water resistance? Warmth?

  • Them new Gore jacket.

  • @edscoble @MCamb

    Water resistance and visibility

  • For visibility, buy a good back light and you're set.

  • GXP bottom brackets, are they really that bad?

I had slight play in my gxp bottom bracket and replaced it about a month ago and the movement has come back. I've done around 1000miles on the new bottom bracket.

  • GXP bottom brackets, are they really that bad?

    No

  • ^^

Just stopped in a local bike shop. They had a look and tried to tighten the crankset which didn't work. They said the bottom bracket needs replacing.

They recommened I buy a sram to shimano adapter and so I can use shimano type bottom brackets.

    Anyone have experience of this?

Will be used on my all weather fixed commuter.

  • GXP bottom brackets, are they really that bad?

    No.

  • Anyone have experience of this?

My advice would be is to take it to a different reputable LBS, explain the story, then ask them to try and rectify it.

  • GXP bottom brackets, are they really that bad?

    No.

The original version was poor, but they've been redesigned.

  • What is hippy doing?

  • Topeak master blaster or zefal HPX (frame pump)?

  • They recommened I buy a sram to shimano adapter and so I can use shimano type bottom brackets.

    Are they drunk?

Have a read of this https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/290040/

  • Cheers for the replies. The sram to shimano adapter thing did seem like an odd solution.

My last gxp bb lasted well over a year.

If the cranks are tight what else could be causing radial movement in the bottom bracket?

  • The little nylon insert on the Drive Side might have wandered out of the bearing and up the spindle? Sometimes they need a small spacer between the spider and the DS cup, or between the DS cup and the frame.

  • Misalignment between the left and right threads. Either non parallel non concentric or a combination. I.e. a frame machining error.

  • Thanks. Reading this now.
