I touched my TT bike today...
I touched mine more than a week ago ...
...to nick the top cap screw for a customer.

Just tried to enter the Bossard Wheelers 10 on F11/10, and it says on the CTT page 'slowest 120 riders' - does that mean they pick the 120 slowest out of the applicants? Why? To give fat jabbas like me a chance of entering?

I can ride either the G10/87 or Q10/19 in a few weeks, but not sure which will give more chance of a quick time. Anyone ridden either/both?

highfive for non-racing TT bike usage

Yes.
But before you get too excited, being fat is not a limiter to the fast events...

Not the 3cm rule again

If you get the same time as someone, are you not tied? How can one be a place above the other?
I guess TT forum results are not official, will wait and see.
Also pretty sure that that they had 19:53 next to their name on the board. Oh well. -

I like the sound of a TT that takes the slowest applicants. Are there any 10s or 25s like that accessible by train from London?
I've never raced a TT and don't have a TT biek. My fastest solo 40km took about 1:05 so not sure it's worth entering anything serious.

There are middle market events or MM events, the jargon is confusing.
I went through this a few years ago, and still need to search them out.
But be aware that if your just starting, a lot of events won't fill up, just the 'fast courses'.
MM events often state a 'LTS over 57' or similar. I'll search a few and come back, but there is def a 25 on the E2/25 of 57 or more. Also I think LVCC do a 10 on the E2/10 with a scratch (fastest riders) and also an section for slower riders.
If you pm me I will point you in the direction of a few races I've done. Get some clip on bars. It's fun!

Sorry, LTS is your best time over that distance in the last three seasons. If you don't have one, you can give evidence to suggest one. But if you have never done a TT, I would pic a smaller event any get a bit of practice in.

Boom!
"shall be securely attached to the rims"
"wrists are no lower than the elbows"
"used only on the rear of a machine"
"Deep section"
"The "tuck" position is banned"
"Juniors must wear a properly affixed helmet"
"Any helmet which suffers damage"
"from the neck to at least mid-thigh"
"sleeveless tops are permitted"
"clothing shall be clean and tidy"
"positioned below the waist"
"performance recorded during the current and past three years"
"first entries received"
"FULL ENTRY" -

Go and do evening 'club' time trials (normally 10 miles), more relaxed than 'open' events. Enter on the line, just turn up and ride. Was doing my local one on my road bike last year and will again this year

Do you have a road legal bike? If so, you almost certainly have a TT bike. I've ridden TTs on every bike in my fleet, including this (minus the spikes):

Not ridden G10/87, but the Q10/19 in the right conditions will be faster. It's just a shame that it has to be run so early in the day.

Does that meet CTT regs? Surely you can't brake from the bar ends?
I can imagine an old man with a stopwatch frowning and shaking his head.

• #15167
Thanks - yeah, a 0615 start time when I'd be getting public transport there suddenly becomes a pretty unattractive option..
Also, are the LVCC 25 results up anywhere? I didn't actually take a not of my time..

I can't recall whether the bar ends were actually there on race day, but as they turn in quite sharply it is actually possible to operate the brake while holding them, or any other part of the bar which anybody might describe as "their widest part". The organisers were probably distracted by the other competitors' fancy dress as it was boxing day anyway. I've seen a number of people get away with riding their fixie bieks with cross top levers and riding open events in slvlss, so it's important to recognise the distinction between being in breach of CTT regulations and being in breach of Jeffrey Archer's 11th Commandment :)

@mdcc_tester I know you know all.
What's the deal with people getting the same time, how is one placed above another?
Ie. how am I 5th, and someone on the same time 4th?
Also when I looked at results board, the 4th place person had 19:53 next to their name, not 19:52. Do I email to event secretary to query that? Or CTT?

Alphabetical? Wouldn't put it past the CTT's site to be unable to handle two 4ths.

It's just a formatting error

If you think your time has been incorrectly recorded, let the event secretary know. What goes up on the board at the HQ is just a first draft, there are often transmission/transcription errors which get fixed on the official results without any intervention, once the timekeeper goes through all his data after everybody has finished.

Okay thanks, so wait for official final results before saying anything?
As I guess final official results will reflect the tied result.

Wait until your great grand children are gathered around your death bed, it will make an entertaining set of last words.

4th get's BUCS points. 5th doesn't.

CTT on their own feed. 3cm what?!
So I could move the computer out.
