  • Hmm. Worth £100?

  • Probably.

  • Pascal drivers for macOS in a month... Titan based Mac Pro next?

  • What?! Where did you hear of this? It just keeps getting better.

  • Be weary that I don't know one person that's completely happy with the new MacBook Pros. I hear a lot of "it's good but..." dongle adapters or batterydrain are the common complaints.

A full specced refurb last gen model was what I was told to get.

  • I've got (from work) a last gen 15 inch retina pro and the gen before (with mechanical trackpad) 13 inch retina pro.
It's the older one I prefer. The clicky trackpad is far nicer than the haptic one, with far less crazy accidental/buggy cursor nonsense.

  • NERDGASM X100000000

    I'm buying them all.
Latest MBPs are mint too btw.

  • Last, the report said the next high-end Mac mini "won't be so mini anymore," suggesting that the most expensive model might have a larger or taller design. Apple recently said the Mac mini is "important" within its product lineup, but it remained tight-lipped about the prospects of future updates.

    xMac? PULEEEZE?

  • Can you turn haptic off?

  • The clicky trackpad is far nicer than the haptic one, with far less crazy accidental/buggy cursor nonsense.

This is crazy talk. The ability to get a solid (fake) click out of applying pressure anywhere on the trackpad instead of just a (real) mechanical click in a bottom corner is fantastic. I used to click by tapping as I didn't like lifting my finger off the trackpad and moving it to the appropriate area to real-click. Now I can just push in.

Force Click is a waste of time though - as much do to with underutilisation as sometimes unexpected implementation (force click to rename?! although doing it on any mention in an app of a date/time for a calendar appointment, or location for a map, is sort of useful)

  • Not off, otherwise the trackpad wouldn't move at all if you pushed it in (which is disconcerting enough when the device is off). There are a few options though.

  • I'd have to agree with @BQ here, I wouldn't say the old trakcpad is far nicer but i do find myself accidentally clicking the new trackpad to do things I am not intending to. I think this is force of habit thing as I still move to the bottom of the trackpad for when I'd like need to actually click...

  • Conversely it is absolutely maddening moving from a mac to a windows trackpad and not being able to click without going to the bottom of the trackpad. Y U make me move my hand!

  • I'm happy with mine. It's much nicer than the previous model.

  • Im getting a notification saying someone is trying to sign into my apple account in Petham, Sussex. What should I do?

  • Ask them how they moved an entire town from Kent?

  • I'd be tempted to get a Mini next time, not sure I really need a laptop anymore... I'll keep going with this one 'til it dies, still performing great for design/music stuff and it's over five years old...

  • Got latest mbp at work. No good.

  • Underpowered, no USB, no SD, no magsafe.. we all prefer our old ones.

There's nothing really 'pro' about them.

  • Literally don't know how the MacBook pro I'm typing this from still works after my butt just knocked a full bottle of water onto it.

  • Which one? The upper range one or the non touch bar one?

  • I'll keep going with this one 'til it dies, still performing great for design/music stuff and it's over five years old...

mate my mid 2012 15" retina pro still feels new... 16GB RAM, 2.6ghz i7 chip, no issues yet (touch wood)

  • You realise we've just jinxed both our machines, right?

  • Aaaaaand they're broken.
