It is at times like this that paying with a credit card may help.

Don't know how people can do stuff like that and not worry it will come back to haunt them. I really get a kick when I have rebuilt an engine, luckily I have access to some very friendly engineering places that do the bits I can't. But putting things together isn't that hard.

Does EGR valve bypass increase NOx emissions?

I can't tell if those are stereo controls on your steering wheel. Did you manage to plumb them into the new head unit ok if so?

It was all plug and play for that, comes with a canbus adapter so they all work perfectly which is great.

@epilepticfridgeboy it does. Sadly, but has increased the fuel economy by about 10% and throttle response / performance is slightly better. Will see the difference it has made come mot time.

Yeah, I was more peeved a couple of days back. I don't mind doing the work - though pulling car engines is a ball ache. At least I know it gets done right. I'm putting in a solid roller this time too, hydraulic lifters are frigging dead to me. And maybe a full 3" zorst on for extra thump.

Lo and behold the power of the Internet. The builder now wants me to send it back. Just got to agree some terms I guess. Still have to pull and crate the bloody lump though.

Just about to put my brick through its mot, steering limit stops fell off agaib since a few months ago so going to attach them with three things instea of one.
Bolts going to be threaded into arm instead of rivets, cable tied twice and then electrical tape. Fucked if I'm loosing a fourth set of them and then the corresponding arch liner torn from wheel rub

Xtrons unit made to fit the specific car. Don't think it is double din, but needs a new bracket screwed in to fit the car.

What's the price on that? I'm tempted for my E39

That engine has done more miles in a crate than in the Fury. Sorry about all your hassle, can't wait until that thing is up and running properly. I'll book a ticket to LA straight away for some Roadkill style adventure.

Nah I'm pulling it and taking it somewhere local, he says he's going to send me a check to cover repairs. If not, cue the internet stake burning. Done with the guy, absolute bell end.

GRM is a good place to go for recommendations for engine builders who would be a) known and b) local.

Looks like a shot wheel bearing? Dunno how complex it is, but on my w124 it was £400

I think it's just a failed seal, rebuild kit is only about £20.

I think I'm probably going to take it to a place called IMM machine in Indio, CA. It's a bit of a drive but they sound good. Fingers crossed.

You shouldn't put it off. A failure of the CRB can cause all kinds of damage. Flywheel etc... At least that's my understanding

It was indeed the CRB, and, unfortunately, the flywheel :( Still, having just driven her back from the garage, the difference is noticable - much lighter clutch.

Am I right in thinking a car's more likely to make bangs from the exhaust with a higher duration cam?
