    @Scilly.Suffolk Yes, you can. Headsets don't need cages, they don't turn fast enough to make keeping the balls apart advantageous. The cages are there for the convenience of the factory, loose balls will increase the load bearing capacity because you can fit extra balls.

    I got a bit flustered, what with a) having blithely ordered 5/32" and b) struggling to search for 1/8", not 1 1/8".

    100 on the way from good old SJS: their balls are harder than Simply Bearings'. :0

    Didn't realise you had the technology at home to distinguish between two balls both of which claim 60-67 HRC :)
