  • A button to tap on a homescreen that automatically logs hours and creates a spreadsheet with times, clients and project names. Life - changed.

    Time Recording Pro?

If not you should check it out. So powerful!

  • Other half's old Moto G is playing up a bit - I think the small memory and lots of Spotify is the route of the problem.

Does anyone have a suggestion for an inexpensive (sub £200) phone with a decent amount of memory (32gb?).

  • There's an SD card in the current phone, but now I think about it I don't know what size the Moto G is, I just assumed it was 16gb, but it could only be 8gb.

TBH I should also double check there isn't a way to move more on to the SD card, but often they don't seem to be the real world solution to lack of space.

  • From Marshmallow onwards using an SD card for apps and the rest gets a lot better. I'd still say 16GB as a minimum though unless you're barely planning to install anything.

  • Fucked my screen proper, can get an early upgrade but that means another 2 years on contract, can't afford anything outright though. Can get an S7 just in time to still pay over the odds before the S8 comes out.

  • S7 on the way through an early upgrade, although they almost matched the price of new contracts on other networks so actually paying a bit less per month. Would've preferred a oneplus 3t though.

  • Anyone used a xiaomi redmi 4?

  • I had a three. Worked perfectly until I dropped it down the toilet while pissed.

  • Get a wileyfox for now.

  • I already haz s7 en route.

  • So, I've smashed the screen on my Moto X, and it was fairly sht anyway (battery life down to 1/2 day after 2 years).

Not sure whether it is worth getting a Pixel or other premium device, or going cheap e.g. Lenovo p2 (£200). Or sacking it off altogether and getting a punkt, but that means losing whatsapp which I currently use for most messages... any thoughts?

  • I like my oneplus 3, the 3t might be a good mid point btween cheap and Pixel.

  • Yup the oneplus does seem like a good deal. Think it is in the same category as the Lenovo in offering a lot of phone for the value, but maybe being on Android 7 gives it the edge over the Lenovo... cheers for the recommendation

  • Can you customise widgets or create your own? I love the way with widgets I can see an active calendar on my homescreen but would love to see something similar for Trello - i.e. not just a widget that creates cards but one that displays active cards on the homescreen. Do-able? Or is that something for the developer themselves to supply and not something end users could do on their own?

  • Something like this?
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oryanmat.trellowidget&hl=en_GB
    https://github.com/oryanm/TrelloWidget
Developer says Trello doesn't have an official API, so this is a lucky bodge.

  • Got a Samsung A5 2017 as a replacement for my (equally borked) Moto X (2nd gen). Didn't want to go down the 5.5" massive phone route. Not quite the mega hardware value of the oneplus 3/3T but a few advantages (IP68, microSD, better size).

  • (equally borked) Moto X (2nd gen)

They haven't been all this thread cracked them up to be have they? The charging port on mine is a bit duff as well as the battery life.

I guess this is the problem with tech products, you'll never know how good it is until it has been superseded. Obviously they're much cheaper than iPhones, but you do definitely see a difference in build quality in comparison.

  • Are there any proper good small Android phones around at the moment?

My Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is getting a bit creaky, but there doesn't seem to be anything with a decent camera that's under 5.5" these days.

  • Z3 Compact :)

  • Samsung A3 2017 4.6" IP68, ant+

  • I'm sure I was looking at a milspec Samsung recently. A4 or something? Let me try and find it.

  • It was the Xcover 4 I think

    5"

    • IP68 certified - dust/water proof over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes
    • MIL-STD-810G certified
  • Need a recommendation of the cheapest android phone to run a lycamobile sim and app to track gps data for a cycle project for research purposes. Have the sim and tracking chip.

Edit: Got an Alcatel Pixi 4. £45. Does the job

  • Gf's handmedown N5 seems to no longer turn the screen on. Black or super dim and flashes on now and again. Presume there's some kind of broken connection or fault with the front light sensor? Anyone had similar?
