  • Mattresses.. christ is buying one confusing.

I inherited an ikea mattress (probably only 25-30cm thick) a few years ago and since then have got worse and worse back problems.

Gf now staying at mine more also says she feels sore after sleeping on it.

I believe its just to firm, it has very little give in it therefore it doesnt feel supportive,

Anyone have experiences with the big online only brands, casper, eve, leesa etc? They get good reviews but i fear being all foam mattresses like my ikea one theyre not that different

  • Generally, seem to get what you pay for when it comes to mattresses.

We bought a Tempur about 15 years ago and it has been exceptionally comfortable, including through two pregnancies (not sure if that's likely to be an issue for you, but just in case...)

However they are expensive and have gone up quite a bit since we bought ours.

IKEA are generally good value - we've got kids mattresses from there so maybe go to a store and try a few out? They have a decent range so likely you can find one better than your current model.

I don't think all foam are the same. We've bought cheap ones too and they are more like what you describe; thin and very firm.

  • Ive had two mattresses from John Lewis and they have been great. They also tend to have reduced display mattresses instore.

A memory foam topper from Amazon makes a huge difference.
