  • Long time veggie (32 years, minus a few years or eating meat in the last few years) here, and I've just watched the Simon Amstell thing and instantly realised that I can't do dairy or eggs anymore. Do people supplement protein? I tend to have a whey shake most days but have been trying to switch to snacking on nuts recently. I find taking protein helps my recovery when I'm doing midweek intervals, so think I should probably try and keep topping it up. I grew up veggie and have a veggie son so am well used to cooking/eating with lentils, tofu etc but my only concern is 'on-the-go' protein sources.
I'm expecting to drop a few kg from not eating cheese anymore, as long as I don't replace it with crisps...

  • chocolate soy milk is my go to, readily available in most big supermarkets. or you can buy soy/hemp/pea protein if it must be powdered form.

  • No need to supp protein unless your bulking?

'on the go' - flapjack, nakdbars, clif bars, nuts, seeds etc

for the protein shakes try adding chia seeds or spirulina.

For recovering, lower inflammation in the body - so lots of antioxidant foods - Fruits, green leaves etc.

Only supplement you need is B12. You can get everything else from plants.
