  • Check when warm as coils can breakdown under load/heat.

  • Coil gets hot, guess they all do, but unpleasantly hot after 5-10 minutes of use.

    Today went through everything that I've touched and not touched recent, cleaned the hell out of every electrical connector then buttered up with dielectric grease, inc CDI/ECU and fuel pump connectors .

    New plug, another cap from the box, recharged battery and same behaviour. Spoke to a few mechanics who are used to these bikes and the common theories are....
    Duff new cheap coil is the fault, as it heats up there is a short between the coils inside.
    Ignition pickup in the stator housing or cable leading to it is failing, again heat related.
    CDI/ECU, but £350, so rather set fire to the bike then spend that kind of money on the thing.

    Annoying as was all setup to sell this thing on when it was running 100% a month ago, now I've started using it again for work the £££ is just mounting up. Bum.
