What difference does dual piston make to maintenance? More places for air to get trapped?
-
• #3503
@Howard and @BareNecessities would know more .. but moar power and larger pad essentially.

Guyz. Plz.

Does anyone know what thickness frame the mounting bolt c that come with the RS-805 caliper are?
I'm getting some for my Caad12 and wonder if/which ones come with it

Other than pretty colours - what are Hope calipers like?
Your great grandchildren will probably still be able to get spare parts for them ;-)
-
• #3508
rim brakes might be the way to go!
stop eating drugs
-
• #3509
But they'll need to get spares for them coz they'll always be going wrong.
No idea tbh. My old Mono Minis were fine, but I've no experience their later stuff, as I've been using mechanicals for the past 6-7 years.

Do they rattle?
-
• #3511
Not reliability issues, just the same old noises and lever throw stuff I've been whinging about since last year.
-
• #3512
To be honest, they're not bad, they're just not Shimano.
-
• #3513
Drop bar levers?

Do they rattle?
Hopes, or mechanical?
-
• #3515
Yeah, my ultra bike. Kinesis with all the new-fangled flat mount shimano shit on.

Hope calipers.
Not a clue.
Mechanical >>>
Ah, they're fine. They stop me, and I'm even fatter than you.
-
• #3518
Just get a decent mechanic :-P

• #3519
I go faster than you though.
But anyway, fuck cables.

To be honest, they're not bad, they're just not Shimano.
Aren't you just pissed off at Hope because you bought some really old second hand Hopes cheap and then wondered why they didn't work?
Or was that someone else?

I go faster than you though.
99.9% of this forum goes faster than me :'(

Not until someone can tell me why it's wrong. If there's something that's not in the manual that needs to be done to make them better then feel free to post it. It will probably go into Woolseys at some point for some work but I'm not going to make a special trip.
Besides I'm not the only one posting on the 'net about this issue so perhaps the problem isn't the mechanics..?

Because Shimano isn't perfect?
*Awaits the banhammer *

Nothing is up to my standards. Doesn't mean Shimano aren't the best.
dual piston ! apart from that Hope (or anything other than Shimano) is pain to maintain. Pads are just pads.
@fredtc link me to these massively reduced sram rim brake thingies pls.
