I'm not mad on solid surface - Corian, Minerva etc - as they look plasticy, though I do appreciate their suitability for the purpose. They are also wildly expensive. Considering Dekton or Silestone and equivalents but the only floor tiles we like are £££ so may need to cheap out on the worktop (I know, I know - false economy).
Well melamine-faced ply is gonna look pretty plasticy too!
Have you looked at richlite/paperstone at all? It's not cheap cheap, but in terms of value for money it could hit a sweet spot.
