In June a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been released on bail until mid-April.
I'm amazed, I thought attempted murder was only used when a police officer was involved. What the betting the CPS just about manage to convince a jury (of motorists) to convict him of careless driving.

A fatality from the Bellingham crash.
Let's hope the others make it.

What a nightmare.

Did anyone spot the Rolls Royce ad in the Evening Standard article - worthy of Private Eye albeit a sad article.

12 years in jail for Joshua Dobby, who killed two people after a high-speed chase:
One of the most horrible crashes in London that I can remember. Not that there's a lack of competition.

The worst crashes that have happened recently are, of course, the murders on Westminster Bridge.
Quite apart from this kind of rare crime, drivers seem to have been crashing into pedestrians on the footway with greater frequency than I remember hearing about before, and in this case I don't think it's just an issue of better reporting.
I came across the police lines for this one last night as I was riding back from the party, didn't ask what was going on as it's usually something you read in the paper the next day:
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/mar/26/three-hospital-after-car-london-pub-islington
A police chase may have been a factor. Injuries seem to be serious but not life-threatening. Best wishes for recovery to all those injured.

Several small crashes were caused during this dramatic escape attempt:
Hutson evaded officers and drove off on the moped, fleeing north onto the North Circular and then onto the M11 where, reaching speeds of 90 mph, he wove in and out of traffic often on the wrong side of the carriageway.
Video footage shows other drivers swerving out of his way to avoid head-on collisions. Some were involved in minor crashes because of Hutson's riding.
On The M11, Hutson tried to squeeze in between two cars in the gap between lanes two and three, but instead collided with them.
The impact forced him to crash his moped, knocking his shoes off his feet as he skidded and rolled along the motorway.
Police were forced to close part of the M11 to prevent further danger to motorists.
Hutson got back up, restarted his moped and continued along the hard shoulder, again against oncoming traffic.
Police deployed a 'stinger' tyre deflation device ahead of Hutson, which safely slowed him down and eventually stopped him on the slip road of the M11 to the M25.
He then attempted to flee bare foot, but police soon caught up with him and he was arrested.

Another moped incident--I thought that if you try to hide on a roof, you choose a flat roof and lie down flat, but what do I know:

Oh wow. That'll be expensive.

This one could have been much worse, as it seems the van driver misjudged the corner and at least partially drove across the central refuge of a pedestrian crossing. Had there been pedestrians on it, he could well have killed someone.

Yet another car on the footway--fortunately no serious injuries, by the sound of it:

I find these incidents utterly depressing, just like Westminster Bridge or London Bridge.

I agree but maybe stop reading the Evening Standard. It's pure clickbait.

I don't like the Standard any more than you do, even less so now that George Osborne is editor. The problem is that it remains London's main newspaper, so I feel the need to use it for London stories. It's true that most stories like the one above can probably be found in local papers, but they're all (or at least most) owned by fairly large newspaper conglomerates like Archant nowadays, anyway, so I don't see too much of a difference there. I think I don't fall for too much clickbait any more, and the stories above to me certainly aren't clickbait, but genuine news.

That is a tough dilemma.
The site makes me feel uneasy and seems so sensationalist. But as you say it is a main source for London news. -

Fortunately not an attack and nobody was killed.

Really awful. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/deptford-bridge-crash-woman-dies-after-being-hit-by-cement-truck-in-south-east-london-a3565366.html This looks like it has happened right on the crossing. It's a really badly designed one. Two stage, toucan, narrow central island for the volume of cyclists and pedestrians that need to use it (bus stops with lots of buses on both sides, college building, where the Waterlink Way crosses the A2. Long, long waits at each crossing point. Poor woman. Feeling deeply sorry for her loved ones.
^thats why so many of these are in the wee hours of the morning when someone stupid can fool themselves they'll get away with it
