The main problem I have with horizontal drop outs is the awkward "getting the wheel out/taking the brake off" when you puncture.
Caliper inside the rear triangle seems to be increasingly popular and overcomes this. My Day One has this and I don't touch the brake when I remove the wheel but I did have to change the brake caliper in order to get heel clearance (my heel was hitting the cable arm on the original Promax mechanical caliper, I fitted a Spyre but hydro would have been another solution).

Just...don't puncture? Tubeless the shit out of it and cross fingers. Works for me.
Jinxed self hugely I know
EBBs are sweet if you don't mind the smidgen of extra weight and TLC they required.
Hate to go all "amey" on everyone, and build a bike around one component but I have a 29" wheelset that I built for a project, that I didn't complete. So I have a fairly nice 29" single speed wheelset that I want to use on a single speed mountain bike. My current fav is this
It has an eccentric BB, and looks alright - does anyone have any better suggestions to consider?
