  • Just bought this track frame so I thought I would do my first current projects thread.

I'm still unsure as to what it could be I've contact Rourke on the basis of what other forum memebers have said.

My plan is to build it up with campagnolo pista parts.

I currently have a chainring and bottom bracket I'll post pictures as I go.
Let me know what you think and if you think I should do anything differently.

  • That's proper nice! Wrapover at the seat cluster looks V. Rourkey.

  • @Skülly Thanks guys, do you know where i can get it identified?

  • Apart from Rourke themselves, nope.

You give them a frame number?

  • Ask @Rourkie... his dad probably built it if it is a Rourke.

  • I've contacted Rourke but they haven't gotten back to me as of yet.

  • I saw this on ebay. Looks fantastic. Rourke have a good record of frames built. Brian rourke was a ex professional who was the fitter and employed a frame builder until Jason his some learnt the trade. And usually tigs his frames now. I would respray the frame and add period rourke decals. The shop in Stoke can do this and the standard of work is excellent.

  • I remember now!

This was in the "what's my..." thread.

And I said that the way the seat stays are finished, is typical of one the established UK builders.

    But couldn't remember who...

    Called it!

    What led you to Rourke?

Any better idea as to what the "S" decals represent?

  • @Scilly.Suffolk @wildwest

Haha it was that thread that led me to a rourke!

Spoken to a few people now and they reckon it was from a team called Saba. Although I'm still waiting on confirmation.

Last night I throughly cleaned the campagnolo pista bottom bracket ready to be assembled.

I'm thinking vintage campagnolo wheelset or campagnolo hubs and h plus son rims for a more modern take.

    What do you think?

  • Excellent idea how plus son look great and are solid.
I would still get it resprayed by rourke and vintage style decals applied and then you'll be set. It will look awesome.
I think it's sound fully plausible as rourke still support teams to this day and saba team did exist. But I would put on Brian rourke decals and may be a tasteful team saba on the top tube.
I would blame you if you left it as is. Still in good nick.

  • Why do you think I should get I resprayed?

  • So that it's identity is aligned to its much respected manufacturer. Saba branded bike carries no cache imo.

  • I've been told by Rourke that it is in fact a Rouke! So thats nice to hear :)
    @wildwest @Scilly.Suffolk @hoops @Skülly @Alphaone

Just trying to source some period campy stuff now.

  • Just trying to source some period campy stuff now.

Was round at @colnago_costa 's place the other day ... it's a Campagnolo treasure trove! Just a little hint ...

  • Pretty much, unless you think other wise?

I was going to lace pista hubs to h plus rims but not sure?

  • I'll send him a message, just bought a titainium flite off him :)

  • archetype probably, with black saddle and tape.

  • well tb14 would be nice too?

  • Order some vintage style decals off rourke they would sit nicely on the down tube.

  • haven't got them yet but I think they will be 36 large flanged pista hubs.

  • Sorry guys, I don't want tubular.
