The winter training has ended and it's time to shed some kg without losing the watts. This time last year I was 81kg (183 height) and got to 77 by July, this time I'm at 79, so 75-76 seems reasonable. Aside from pumping in the miles, and not drinking beer has anyone got any clever suggestions?

Not eating any wheat and counting calories seems to have worked for me recently.
Oats for breakfast. Lots of pulses and proteins to fill yourself up on a reduced number of calories. 1200 a day is doable but not pleasant, 1800 is easier. Accept you will have to be hungry at times.
If you're going to drink, keep it to one day a week.

I'm not much of a drinker - Maybe a Belgian beer once a week, however cutting out bread really helps. Has certainly made me less gassy too...
Now time to cut down on those sugary teas and coffees I depend on so much.

Oh oh :):)
Can just be water and carbs. Do you track your calories and exercise?
-

I've managed to lose a stone since October. Would highly recommend riding your bike as a full time job as a weight loss technique.

No tracking at all.. just unfortunate i think. Oh well i have a week to loose a bit more then will just have to watch what i eat for 6 weeks

You could have swapped fat for muscle too :)
With no tape measure with the scale or calorie tracking it's a massive guessing game.
Also I - think - you are a lady member? Us ladies get way more water weight fluctuations in general...

Lady? Not last time i checked. I think with the extra exercise I just ate a few to many custard cremes.

Ups sorry!
Yeah custard cremes won't do you any favours... :)
Team sky is all in the rice cakes and banana loafs, there's a few recipes online. It's food that packs.

Team sky is all in the corticosteroids and tramadol, there's a few recipes online. It's drugs that pack.

Hahaha that too.
Though Tramadol, does that not screw you up?
I'd say they are more into Clen and so on
-
• #11265
Neither of them are particularly good for you.
-
• #11266
I'd take Custard Cremes over roids any day!

Tren hard and eat Clen as the bodybuilders say :p

Being Kiwi I approve of any sort of pie. Apart from Xmas Mince pies. There is a special place in hell for them.

Being fat, I'll eat those as well but I didn't miss them while I was in Oz for xmas this year.

The week before the D33 ultra I stopped tracking the calories and also had an easy week milage wise.
Ate well after the race and hydrated with plenty of carbs and electrolytes. Saturday night did see a low point where the sweetie cupboard was empty and I demolished half a bar of cooking chocolate 😣
Sunday morning was 1.5kg up from last week. Although a lot of that must have been water as it's off again already33 miles in 4hours 14minutes, so super happy.

http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/how-to-break-free-from-binge-eating/
Binge eating is typically a recurring behavior, not an occasional one and will typically have some, if not most of these characteristics:
1.Consuming large amounts of food even though you are not physically hungry
2.Eating more rapidly than normal
3.Eating until you are uncomfortably full
4.Eating alone or in secret
5.Feeling disconnected during a binging episode (also referred to as a “zombie” feeling)
6.Feeling disgusted, depressed, and/or guilty after overeating.OMG that's exactly me. See the mention of cooking chocolate above. Plus I had to go shopping again on Friday, after Thursday evenings demolishing of everything that was intended for my race dropbags 😣

Do you feel you very stressed or perfectionistic?
The rare occasions where I overeat or drink too much plonk are usually "emotional stress" related.
Ultrarunning ain't a walk in the park either :)

I wouldn't say stressed. I'm having a year (ish) off work as a chance to enjoy running, biking or just doing whatever I fancy.
I've pretty much always done it, but working offshore probably didn't help. Finish a 12hr shift hacked off, have dinner then stop by the bond to get a couple of bags of sweets before hibernating in the cabin and watching TV. Soon after the first bag of sweets is demolished and the second bag followed.
Hence starting running after work, so the bond was closed by the time I was out of the gym. I did a few treadmill 30k runs and marathons to chill out 🤔

04/01/2016 122.8kg
09/01/2017 96.9kg
20/03/2017 82.3kgBroke the 40kg mark this morning. That's two sets of standard check-in luggage allowance. "Just" one more stone left to go.
Does that make me fatter than Hippy?
