Your uncle dying?

That is a fantastic collection.

i do have an uncle with a superb car collection, but he will out live me, i suspect...
-
• #33180
i was discussing that with a couple of dudes here. i reckon there's only two i'd sell, three maybes (if you needed to) and nine keepers

A great topic for a "what if" afternoon day dream.
I assume it's a fake, but if it was me I'd probably take a loan out to pay for storage and start slowly selling all but the M3, Porsches and Jag with the long term aim of just keeping the 4S Carrera and Jag... or just the Jag.
I'd sooner have one nice pleasure car to drive and put a smile on my face, stored in a proper garage* than have them stuck underground somewhere outside Milton Keynes.
Defo sell the fucking Bronco to one of those daft redditers.
*with room for a couple of motorbikes than that list.

Actually I've reconsidered.
I'd create an investment syndicate into rare cars and then sell them all but the jag and Porsches at +10% market value, take an 2% AMC, 20% of any gain and get the storage house to agree to store my unsold ones gratis.

BMWs are very much not cool unless old or 135.

• #33185
ZxM coupes are cool.
135 is not.
That is all.
Unless you count Alpinas or the i8.
-
• #33186
and @paininthe good advice, especially the lock pack, just what I need to hear and most importantly the mpg and wind noise being one of the main advantage.
-
• #33187
I should have quantified old, agree with the coupes, preferably the older one.
And for some reason I thought the M135i still existed & came as a hatch, apparently not, but has now been replaced by the M140i..which is a hatch.
And that green thing above is bloody awful. -

-

-
• #33191
^Thats not my bag.
Anyone doing a track day soon that I could bring the 911 too? Would like to give it a bit of a workout.

I might be going to Woodbridge on Saturday with some friends with MX5s.
I took a friends 996 c2s there last year, was good fun
-
• #33194
I've not been round Woodbridge for more than 10 years. I actually thought they'd shut it.
Top tip tho: Keep your distance from the car in front or budget for a front end repaint. Many stones.
-
• #33195
It was very wet when I went last year, I liked the track though and did some skids.
Didn't really notice it being too loose but that might have been because rain and people generally keeping a bit further apart
-
• #33196
I suppose there's a chance they've swept it since 2003...
Airfields are great for learning to powahslyde 911s.
It goes like this:
Accelerate hard until going fast.
Jump off the throttle.
Turn in much more aggressively than seems sensible.
Press the throttle to the floor immediately.
Hold it there.
Steer the wrong way until the car pulls itself straight.Repeat all day.

• #33197
I presume turning off traction control in the pit lane is part of this?
-
• #33198
Probably. Though I've never had a 911 with traction / P[A]SM cos man is a bad man.
-
• #33199
Cable throttle and LSD here- its not PASM, it's whatever came before.
-
• #33200
LSD seems like a strong choice. Each to their own.
oh jesus. i dream of that happening.
