The drives are reliable so far. One is a WD Caviar black - the other a WD Green. Each has a back up, Samsung and WD Green respectively hooked up via a disk caddy over USB2 and Carbon Copy Cloner. So would I go for RAID 0 and maintain a back up rather than RAID level 1 which would half my space?
The thunderbolt enclosures are fairly pricey. Any idea who sells a good one?
I use a 6TB Pegasus RAID at work and it is really good - but it did cost £1K which is way over my budget.

My base station is not showing up in airport utility, on my mac or phone. Even if connected via ethernet?
Anyone had this.
-
• #10981
Yeah, did that. Also tried to force the computer to find it via mac address.
I guess I'll try hard reset next. Annoying.

I'm surprised they didn't bring up all the glaring issues with Siri.

how shit are the iphone 7/plus?
struggling to decide whether to wait for a new samsung s8 or to just get an iphone 7 (probably plus) as my contract is up so I can upgrade.
I hear the 7 has pisspoor batt. life (the plus less so) but are there any other glaring issues I'm missing?

no headphone socket. Also they're most likely going to drop the lightning port in favour of usb-c next gen.

Maybe. No idea until it comes out.
I was going to get the 7 + mostly because of the camera, but just couldn't get past the size of the thing. -

I have one. Its great. But this late in the cycle I would prob hold out for the 8 as its meant to be a big change...

Le sigh... don't worry about the 3 year old MacPro then.

My 2p.
I loved the 7+ because of the camera, the normal and wide angle lens is the biggest selling point for me.
I used to have the 6+ (mainly for camera) it was an amazing phone but I find it's difficult to simply take photos on the fly, especially while riding a bicycle.
I end up going for an iPhone SE, because it's so much easier to take photos while riding with one hand.
A perfect world is the size of an SE plus the camera of the 7+ and I'm sold for life.

Looks like you can get Apple stuff at a 20% discount at the moment if you're careful with paying at the right time.

I leave my macbook on nearly all of the time. Is this a bad idea? Will this reduce battery life / the life of the computer?
My 2 year old macbook pro has recently started running slow. I'm using around 15% of the memory, and usually less than 10% of the CPU capacity. Any help diagnosing / fixing this appreciated.

My Mac Air was running tragically slowly, I was trying to work out why when I saw a post about how resource intensive Chrome was, switched to using Safari and night and day difference in speed - makes the Air usable again.
Problem is Safari isn't as good as Chrome, is there a way of having my cake and eating it here?

Mozilla uses less cpu than Chrome
Side note - if you cut your thumb and put a plaster on it the clicking doesn't register on a MBP
Currently clicking with the base of my thumb. It's slow.
