Cheers for clearing it up

Waiting for a frame to get sold before i go further with the build. Got hold of a fork though. This model but raw so it'll match the frame.

I'm using a 26" 395mm A-C fork on mine. Might work.

Found this photo today, i though about your build. Using a 44mm headtube with a 1 1/8 fork might look like this, i guess.

This is an example of the EC44/40 external cup lower with a reducer crown race.
The proper/normal solution for straight 1 1/8 steerer forks would have been a SZ44/30 semi integrated lower, but that would look much worse with a steel fork.

And wouldn't it lower the front end a bit having the semi integrated lower?
-
• #84
Or raise it a bit if you use an external lower.
It depends on where you're coming from or what you think it was designed for in the first place. -

Or raise it a bit if you use an external lower.
How much will it raise it; any numbers on that?
-
• #86
depends on the headsets.
stack difference is probably around 10 mm between internal and external cups. -

Will have to check the Superstar ones you linked in this thread. Thanks!

For my part I went with a super cheap neco lower cup (external) from ebay. I asked and they will include a reducer crown race to use with my straight steerer 1 1/8 forks.
I need the added stack and hate the look of integrated or external head sets.
Even though my carbon fork matches the outer diameter of head tube perfectly.*I'm building a different frame with the same head tube atm.

Asked CNC themselves and they recommended this semi integrated one with internal bb cup.
https://www.cnc-bike.de/product_info.php?products_id=1970The fork i'm getting is 408mm a-c too, so it's a bit longer than normal cx forks and should help level it out.

I need my bike built in a fortnight so that Neco is out.

So you're doing internal?

Will measure bb height.
Did this get measured?
-
• #93
Rough sketch-up based on the measurements available and some guessing.
Might look funny with the skinny fork but what the heck.Bb height was about 272mm with the 54mm tires.

Are there any slicks in 54mm?
-
• #95
Maxxis Torch or Schwalbe Big Ben maybe? Might be semi-slicks rather than pure slicks though and I haven't tried any of them myself..

Big Bens are real nice!

Forks received. They sent me black painted ones instead of raw though..
May look up what it would cost having the frame painted professionally.
Hammered is still tempting but i'm afraid it would end up looking like shit and be a pain in the butt to remove.Defenitely getting a integrated bottom headset cup. The extra stack of an external would make it look odd.
Anyone got experience with cheap cable actuated hydraulic disc brakes like these?
