  • I've never really understood the Ben Wheatley fanfare. I really want to. But I just can't. His adverts/comic sketches were fun and he's obviously enthusiastic - I just can't help thinking that Down Terrace, Kill List, AFIE, Sightseers, High Rise are all a bit... shit. I have higher hopes for Free Fire but I think it's an unusual choice as far as career progression goes.

Said someone on the internet who's never made a feature film.

On the subject of career progression - from The Kings of Summer to King Kong... How?

  • Kill List and Sightseers are great, AFIE is heavier going but still enjoyable... Haven't seen Down Terrace, will have to purchase that one... Or High Rise for that matter, but that's pretty recent, innit...

  • Don't get me wrong - I LIKE Sightseers and to a lesser extent Kill List and have all his films in the collection, I just think they're OK, not great and I don't perceive him to be the most exciting director in UK film industry as everyone on Film4, Twitter and in Brighton seems to think.

Says a Twitter user from Brighton.

*I would say Daniel Wolfe, Yann Demange and soon to be Aiofe McArdle.

But I also didn't like Hunt for the Wilderpeople so what the fuck do I know.
