It's Thule. Bought it off a mate but don't have roof rack rails for current car...
Paid £40, want it for £20? Can photo the underneath for you if you want, to check it'll mount?

This mega-tedious video is (to me) awesome:

Since we went to the custom MAF housing and upgraded all of the intake pipework the idle would hunt back and forth between 800-1,200 rpm which drove me nuts, low speed/part throttle was also not great. Although WOT was hysterical with the additional air-flow, that said.
Anyway, we've upgraded the engine management from Bosch Motronic 4.3 to 4.4 which has a significant increase in terms of capabilities - the most important probably being processor speed and map fidelity, both of which have seen big increases.
Woo!

Thanks for the chat guys. I'll look into it a bit more. I think I'll go for the petrol though as the general talk seems to be towards extra charges and reduced tax benefits now.
I also haven't bought a car since you used to look on the back of the local newspaper.
Is eBay generally a good idea these days for second hand cars?

So that's why we never got the clubman the right way around!!
Least it's not as lazy as Renault, current clio they only make a lhd dashboard, for us rhd countries thru just move the wheel and the binnacle, the whole centre dashboard are pointed at the passenger, and it's very obvious when you sit in one lol.

RX8's are super affordable tho
Isn't that something to do with there being an incredibly expensive engine service due at some point in their lives?
-
• #33113
Pretty much everyone I have mentioned this to seems to have said something along the lines of this. Or that the rotary doesn't last as long etc.

The Apex seals ultimately don't fulfill their role, which is a shame as it's an interesting engine.
If you are happy rebuilding the Wankel then crack on, of course.

• #33115
Shame, as much as I would like to learn I am definitely in the 'novice' stage of car repair right now.
Back to saving for a 350z

Mind you, you're right. Having looked they're incredibly cheap - if you didn't mind just binning it once it needed anything significant they might be a winner.
-
• #33117
2k for the nicer spec ones is nuts.
But yeah... puts you off
-
• #33118
The cheap ones are fucked, there's no point buying them.
If you're talking an RX8, you want a rev3, it electronically limits what you can do while the engine is cold (like modern BMW M cars) and there's big warning lights to advise you to not turn it off when it's still cold too.
Still, you want one where the owner knows all the details and has taken care of it.
RX7 wise, it's pointless buying a cheap one. Buy one that's had it's apex seals done and been looked after.
They're no less reliable than any other car if maintained correctly! They are just much more susceptible to failure if treated poorly.

Should i consider getting a further 50whp and a faster spool time for £1k investment on a hybrid turbo for my wagon? (currently 280bhp)
I'm thinking YES and just want somebody to agree with me :D

• #33121

That reminds me, I have an unused BOV if anyone wants one? Single piston design, came with my new turbo but my system uses a re-circ valve so the BOV went straight on the shelf.
