I've used Solid Explorer for both FTP, SFTP and FTPES. It works great and doesn't fill your phone with wank like ES Explorer does. Only issue I had was trying to use a private key for the SFTP. They didn't say what format the keyfile needed to be, turned out to be openssh.

On this note - how did you find space got allocated on your 32gb device?
Am looking at the XL (or the iPhone 7+) and wondering whether 32GB would be enough. Most of the space being used on my current 64GB iPhone 6 is music and I'd get rid of that anyway as I use Spotify now. Only thing I can think is image storage and email downloads :/ And how are you finding the regular sized Pixel? Is the only thing that's different the size of the screen and battery life?

I never really had any music on it so any space was taken up with images or apps. I never used more than 10gb at any time including the OS.
The regular size pixel is good, the screen is a good amount larger than the iphone 6 but the size of the overall phone isn't much more. I read bad things about the battery life but it's slightly better than my iphone was. If I don't really use it much it will lose 20 - 25% through a day. If I'm on Instagram a lot then it may down down to 40%ish but I've never run it lower than that.
The screen has taken a little getting used to as it picks up touches slightly differently.
The camera is bloody brilliant, really sharp and manages to get a decent depth of field somehow. The image stabalisation works well too, I've taken really sharp images of moving things while cycling. I was looking at getting the iphone 7 plus almost solely for the dual camera but I can't actually see it being any better. -

I was looking at getting the iphone 7 plus almost solely for the dual camera
Samesies. Though I know a few Pixel (regular size) users who think the camera is the best thing in the world. I also use AirDrop a lot for work. I also have 7 years of iPhone app purchases and there are some apps I use that aren't available on Android :/
How are you finding build quality of the device? That's always put me off about Android devices - my (probably incorrect) perception that they're generally plasticky and flimsy compared to metal and glass iJobs. That and bloatware/bullshit Android repackaging. But this is where Pixel appeals.

Build quality is very good. My Iphone was always in a rubber case with a screen protector because I put a small crack in the screen 3 days after buying it and didn't want to damage it more. This Pixel is just in a thin rubber case now but I would be happy to use it without, I always found metal iphones quite slippy, not a problem with this.
Honestly android is quite different to iOS. It's much better now that phones are really fast, I' had android phones for years before the iphone and they sucked when the hardware couldn't keep up. The pixel is good in that it doesn't have any bloatware, no Sony/Samsung/Whatever specific apps which constantly want updating or anything.
Having the the finger scanner on the back is novel, it's really useful with you fully pick up your phone to unlock it, but I used to often leave it on my desk and just press my finger down on the iphone, now I always have to pick up my phone. It's quick to register your finger too, as quick as the iphone 7 one, quicker than the iphone 6.
I see Android vs iOS as very similar to Windows vs Macs. Android will let you do much more, access any file, install anything you want, change the look and feel of just about anything, but at the cost of some polish and integration.
Airdrop is cool. I always forget it exists and end up email myself Google Drive links. There's an app called InstaShare which is mean to be just as good. Install on your computer and phone and good to go.
Honestly it might be worth you going along to any generic phone shop and having a play with both of them. For me everything Apple has just got too expensive, I would really hate not having a headphone socket and even if the iphone 7 + has a great camera I wouldn't be able to fit it in my cycling jersey.

If you're using a Quad Lock universal mount on a Sony phone, beware, it will remove the back of your phone...

I'm going to try and stick mine back on using acid-free silicone:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/servisol-silicone-adhesive-sealant-75ml-re89wAny objections to this idea?
Any suggestions for a case for it that I can stick a quadlock to the back of?
Actually, how do I remove the current quadlock without peeling off the back protector?

I've recently moved to a dual sim Sony z5 from a moto g (v2?)
Everything is great part from the dual sim functionality in the Sony. You can't save a particular sim for each contact, it's either choose every time or set a sim for calls/sms permanently. Anyone know of any 3Rd party app which does this? -

Anyone experienced a Blackview BV6000 waterproof phone?

No, but it looks like it's one of those that uses extra long USB tips so most of your existing cables won't work. Something to bear in mind.

To get around all the shielding? I wish more phones used that magnetic charging that Sony Z3 does.
I'm off to get some glue for the Sony and I've ordered a case for it and another Quad Lock so will see how that combo lasts before I go for something else.
Cheers for the 'tip' though! :)

First world tech problems... N5x still in Hong Kong, will hopefully be replaced soon... Using my old N5 in the meantime on my trip to Europe, cracked screen, almost dead battery, no speaker, intermittently working/not working USB port... Arrived at Heathrow on Sunday, phone not charging so couldn't call an Uber... Finally managed to buy a new USB cable the phone likes a bit better, got 20% charge in, called Uber, made it to the pub...
Having a dodgy phone can be such a PITA at times... #csb

Anyone with a Sony Z3C or other Xperia variant had issues with Bluetooth? If so, did you find any resolution?

I had one app (Endomondo), that suddenly had difficulties with staying connected to my Garmin HRM-3 band.
-
• #18269
Yeah my HR strap was working and is now very flakey. Location and Bluetooth enabled (you need Location after Android 6) but this is connecting and then disconnecting at random times. Very odd. Did you get anywhere solving the issue?

The IPbike app hasn't complained - and I use it for 99% of my pulse related activities - it does everything you want from ant+.
-
• #18271
What are you using to get ANT+ on your phone?
Does my phone support ANT+? Oooh, wonder what I can do with that?

wonder what I can do with that?
You can discover just how crappy a protocol it is.

It's been working quite well on all my powermeters over the years. I've never tried using any ANT+ stuff on a phone though.

17 apps...
https://www.thisisant.com/directory/xperia-z3-compact/None of them are apps I've used. Unlikely to swap to any of them unless ANT+ is better than Sony's shitty Bluetooth.
Any recommendations for an SFTP app? It seems there is no Filezilla app for android which is what I normally use.
