Mock up with black wheels. These are 7 Speed so won't fit but I like the look of black wheels as it makes for a better contrast with the frame. I'm eyeing up a pair of mavic sup ceramic laced to campagnolo record hubs for 170€ in good condition. Would you say that's a good deal? And generally, black wheels: yay or nay?

Depends on the condition, but sounds alright. I think the ceramics will look great assuming silver hub/spokes/nipples. Agree the dark rims looks better with the frame, much better than the Atlanta's IMO.

I asked the seller for detailed pics, anything in particular I should keep an eye on? Are they prone to microcracks around the spoke nippels?
spokes and hubs are silver indeed. -

Aside from obvious scratches from debris in pads, look for any pitting/bubbling. When I was looking into getting some (probably still will when I want grey rims for something...) I read that some of them can develop this defect. My thoughts are that this is probably due to the coating not completely sealing in aluminium, and it subquently oxidising beneath the coating.

Working on (= upgrading) mine. Gave it a good clean and changed the Gran Sport to Nuovo Record. The colouring of the crankset was in very poor condition so gave it a touch up today.

Nice! What tubing is that?
-
• #171
Ah, was only asking because in that last pic it looks kind of flat like Air, but the other way around. Think it's just from the angle of the pic and the lighting on the tube.

Ordinary round tubing, indeed. ;-)
