Annoying, I do need an in-line post to work with the saddle, the Syncros might be trickier to get.

Straight to anti.

Yeah, it's a pretty garish build. The frame is top notch though imo

Finally swapped frames round, so much nicer, unfortunately shifter broke, may upgrade to Potenza (in black), need new wheels as chain is rubbing on the drop out when on smallest cog.
Photos for comparison;

Black Potenza doesn't look half bad too;

Good question, but doubtful, spacing is more 126mm than 130mm for some reason, the campagnolo cassette is just right at the edge of the Superstar hubs.
They are budget wheels, planning to have something nicer like Open Pro/Campag, just gotta check if there's enough gap between cassette and hubs.
It now have carbon Chorus 10spd levers, black quill stem and classic drop, still finishing it off.

Nearly there, black stem look very good.
Wheel set will be Amboriso with Rigida Chrina rims.

I know an A-head converter has a lot of benefits but the black quill stem does look good.

Much better, old Chorus shifter aren't as comfortable as the newer shape but they shift awesomely well.
Definitely a bike I can focus on small improvement over time.

Looks great - I do find prioritising and upgrading parts gradually over time more satisfying in the long run than dumping a load of cash on a new groupset say. Having said that if I had the choice/cash I'd always go for new group all at once, but it's somehow not the same. What are clearances like on that frame, those 28c's?
-
• #214
Not too bad, 28mm is actually a little tight on the chainstay, it clear it, but will rub when riding, will fit 25mm when the new wheels get here.
A new groupset is defintely on the card, the new Campagnolo Potenza groupset looking like a good option.

The Campagnolo Ergopower hood shape felt much more natural to wrap my hand round them, the latest one with the smaller downshift button were extremely comfortable;
For some reason I found the 105 5800 (et all) hood surprisingly uncomfortable except for the Di2 one.
The older shape were comfortable enough (especially as a singlespeed levers) but the downshift button although great to shift a whole gear in one stroke, felt like it's on the way, and the gear cable routing made the transition from hood to bar a bit awkward;

That's a nice bike Ed!
Any more updates on your new project? -

Slight cross thread here but seeing these lovely builds has got me thinking again... still torn between building this steel nag with black or silver (also looking at potenza or chorus) groupset and wheelset. Particularly liking the black on the concorde above and the stem / seatpost on yours ed. I thought the chrome on the frame had ruled out black but these suggest otherwise, and think the purple would definteily look great with black. Getting fed up of toing and froing over it in my head... what's the forum consensus??

Maybe photoshop it a bit?
Black definitely work, the silver Potenza isn't as attractive than the black.
-
• #220
Probably give you an idea, black stem and silver seatpost definitely can work however.

Sadly my photoshop skills are not up to that, I had a terrible effort on paint instead!! These images are perfect though, you've managed to find 2 more appropriate ones within minutes than I could in 3 weeks!
Thanks, and totally agree on the potenza being better in black. That's what I had initially been keen on before the frame arrived. I'm gonna go down that path I think, just to decide on that or chorus now!
Cheers

Always liked them, kept looking for a Precisa threadless 1" fork to run a threadless set up but they tend to cost twice, nearly three time the frame cost!
-
• #225
ed, is that what that is? Are there any other threadless 1" fork options like that? I didn't know you could get them. Do you know what the stem would be too?
That's nice the paint is a custom job, looks handsome. Didn't know Thomson 27.0 only came in black, had to Google this as it seems weird but yeah true enough. If the post has to be inline, my first thought would be Syncros Ti (silver) 27.0?
