I'm still going to say Sainsburys Tanzanian Mochi Peaberry. Be interesting to hear the opinion of someone more discerning than I am, of course.

Just got a packet of Blake espresso blend from hasbean.
Nice. Think I might go for a subscription with them.

I've got a bag of their Nicaragua Finca limoncillo on the go. It's delicious.

Good stuff that.

I splurged on a hasbeen 52 week subscription recently. No regrets, it's great and works out at less than a fiver a bag. Currently enjoying some fancy £12 beans.

Got that Cimbali done - it all funcioned well so a nice easy in-situ descale and service and replaced the element. Deleted all the over complicated gadgets, fitted a manual steam valve in place of the solenoid activated item for unrestricted flow, tuned it up, dialled it in and the coffee it's producing is beautiful.
Plus I signed the lease for my shop today.

Just sold my San Marco Model 80 project, I made a couple of videos for the customer. Have a look if you like dorky shed tinkering.

Rave roastery is opposite where I bought my new chainsaw and protective kit last week.
I will start to use them when I need emergency beans.

Nice one! Moving on to a new natural Ethiopia soon, I'll let you know. Super mouth-coating milk choc with strawberry finish. It's Yirgacheffe this time rather than Sidamo.
-

The Ethiopian's you roast are consistently amazing, I get people who say they don't like the taste of coffee wanting a second cup.
-
• #12566
Ah cool. Nat ethiopians are always an eye opener and a good way to introduce people to speciality coffee.

Sorry if this has been mentioned previously, and I don't want to clog up the thread, but would anybody recommend places to train in the Barista arts and education in coffee? I'm in full-time (office-based) employment, but looking to break free and change careers.
I've seen Prufrock offer courses, as do London School of Coffee. Seems the cost does add up, if you want to cover all areas from Barista skills, latte art, cupping etc. Would official SCAE be worth it?
The other option is to get a part-time job in a coffeeshop, and get paid while I learn. Ideally somewhere with an excellent reputation for their coffee, and training.
Any constructive advice more than welcome.
Also - congratulations on the shop @StevePeel

The machine in that video looks great, is love something with a bigger boiler. The Silvia is annoying sometimes.
I've been enjoying some beans from happy donkey recently. The Sumatra mocha. Really nice.

Just had an amazing espresso from Glazed in Brighton. Ethiopian Natural roasted by Pharmacie ♥
-
• #12572
YES! I love that place. Excellent donuts but really good coffee and lovely couple that run it. They were using Horsham when I've been but Pharmacie is the off-shoot of Ground (local 'chain') and producing some really good roasts.

+1 for Glazed. they use Cast Iron beans as well who have a great espresso blend.

"Benchmark of Northampton" is mentioned in Caffeine's In The Hopper intro this issue, is that you or have you competition already?

Anyone brewing with Kimbo Cuccuma? Looks funky.
Will take a look at Jam and bread, don't really go out that way, hadn't thought of the waiting room, good shout.
I'm definitely keen on Volcano, we sell it in the Café at work
