Yes - it's a Custom Shop '57 re-issue. Essentially I think it's an AVRI that someone at Fender has taken a sander to, possibly has nicer woods.
I was never sure about the whole relic thing but I had a go on one of those Mexican-made "Roadworn" ones and they just felt great to play, I struggled with the idea of paying the kind of money they want for a "new" Roadworn though. This one came up used at not a huge amount more than the Roadworns and is the nicest example of a P I've played & I've trialed basses from every decade since the 60's in my search.
It's just awesome to play - "soft-V" profile, gently broken in with the relic'ing, quarter-sawn maple neck. Hand-wound pickup sounds mighty too. One of my bands is quite heavy so it's nice not to have to worry about it getting knocked on stage either!
Cheers!
