redline at 6k - is that the diesel version?
-
• #32828
Its not the redline. The engine is still cold; those orange lights gradually disappear in the first 10 mins or so until you have one left at 7.5k and red at 8. Then you go vroom vroom.

ah right - things have moved on... clever!

I'd probably go for a GX only otherwise insuring it would be a nightmare, only looking as I'm tempted to take the defender off the road for a bit to do some repairs.

Wot he said. I've just got rid of my 03 WRX. Awesomely capable, but rather dull unless you're driving like a total dick.

• #32832
What if you put it on 195 tyres?
-
• #32833
It's been said before but the only fun car to drive at legal speeds is a fiat panda on tall skinny tyres (or similar small tin can).
The original WRX was actually OK as it was a tin can and pretty unrefined, and smaller wheels. Much more fun! Each subsequent generation has become more and more refined.Go drive a 205 GTi, lift off mid corner and you'll know what fun is....

• #32834
The GX might be more entertaining for normal use as no issue with keeping the engine on boost?
I've not driven one, would be interesting to know what the NA 2 litre engine is like.

Classic minis are stupid fun. I'd like a go in a morris minor or Austin a30 for super low speed sideways action on skinny crossply tyres.

Love Dammits updates, as long as there are pics!

Anyone got any PRO_USER tips for tracking down an old car?
-
• #32839
Ditto everyone on Imprezas, I had two and even increasing power with PPP didn't turn up the fun factor. I much prefer a little less polish, 3SGTE MR2s were so much more satisfying to own.

clipless fail?

I've never owned a Ferrari except die-cast but he doesn't seem to be going massively quickly, looks straightish, nor is there an abrupt increase in engine noise?
-
• #32848
Actually I remember some of my 1:24 ones being tricky on the limit on parquet.
-
• #32849
Hardly a crash is it... lost traction, got scared then tried to get off the gas and correct it resulting in some lift off oversteer?
All seems a bit dramatic for what should be a planted, modern mid engined car. What do I know though, never driven a Ferrari or anything else remotely exotic.

'I gat this.'
Very nearly fish tails into the oncoming traffic.
Do you think he should have kept the pedal to the metal? :o)
Power slide that mutha off the road?
i bought a bug eye impreza sti when they first came out (2002, i think).
it was technically an awesomely accomplished car, but there are so few places where you could drive it at more than 50/60%, it was actually quite dull for most of the time.
it was a dream car for me so i don't regret owning it, i'm just not in a hurry to get another one.
