• Join the 'UK Time Trialling' Facebook group, a chap called Andrew Tamplin is making some adapters. I should get mine Monday/Tuesday and will let you know what it's like.

  • The hole in my -insert obscure unknown Russian- disc is too small to get the normal pump head in and I had to get a screw-on 90 degree adapter for the valve. Problem is the pressure just makes the pump head blow off the adapter. It's a bit rubbish.

  • Use something to wedge it in place. Whittle a cork?

  • Find a friend to help hold it in place, that's what I have to do...

  • My russian four-spoke and pair of discs are all flat for the same reason. Tried and failed with a 90 degree. Interested to see what the adapter @Pifko is buying will be like.

  • The tube on the adapter is a smaller diameter than a normal tyre valve, so the pump head doesn't stay on. Just slips off once the pressure goes up. I'm currently resorting to using a cable tie to hold it on, then cut it off afterwards. Not ideal.

  • Could you shim the tube of the adapter out a bit with a few layers of electrical tape?

  • wierd, I have had 5 or 6 of these little "crackpipe" adapters over the years and never had that happen before

  • Received yesterday - I'll get a photo up later when home from work.

    It's essentially made up of 2 parts; a small screw-on adapter that screws directly onto the valve core and a J-bend valve which then screws onto the adapter. So once you have screwed on both parts, there's no way it'll come loose...unless you strip the threads.

  • So it's not so different to my makeshift solution I'm using already? After posting the other day I managed to get all the tubes inflated, but it was so damn fiddly the smaller cavity on the trispoke.

    This was the Presta/Schrader adapter from a Lidl milk can, plus 90º bend from local bike shop. Total cost was less than a fiver I think. Was hoping the one from TT forum would be a little more....more. Main issue for me is that it's Schrader on the backside.

  • Yep, essentially looks the same. Was something like £7 posted, which I'm fine with.

  • Yup, sounds totally reasonable. Saves me £7 if it's nothing more or less. Interested to see pics anyway.

    Looks like it would work in discs and tri spokes and has a lock...

  • I've used the Topeak version. Fiddly and couldn't get it to work so gave it away.

    What was the irritating thing? Fiddly/no room to lock on or just not sealing at all?

  • ^ That's the one I've got that I was complaining about. I wouldn't describe it so much as fiddly, but the pipe is very skinny and my pump head blows off it. It's also got a spring loaded internal one-way valve which can make reading the pressure a little hit and miss. I don't like it.

  • Once you have the adapter on the valve head, there is no room for fat fingers to screw on the adapter. The adapter myself and @pdlouche are using work much better. A proper expensive locking Hirame adapter would be the best option though :) £££

    After actually watching the demonstration video, I found out that you still have to thread the lezyne chuck on to a Presta valve (looks pretty easy for schrader...)

  • @varno stocks a Hirame copy and it's well worth the money.

  • Its good, but won't fit ambrosio or newer zipp discs with smaller valve holes with all makes of tubs.
