  • Whereabouts SE? Art & Craft in West Norwood do, as well as a butt load of awesome beer, 1kg bags of Chimney Fire beans for £21

They had four different roasts when I was in last but I just went for the Espresso Blend. Seems great so far.

I have a porlex mini but got fed up of spending as much time grinding as I did drinking so recently got a Delonghi electric burr grinder from John Lewis. Less than £40 and you just set the volume and grind setting, press a button and crack on with the other stuff while it grinds the beans and stops automatically. Need to play with the settings as the number of cups in no way relates (for me anyway) to how much ground coffee you get.

  • I'm in Lewisham, but work in Forest Hill so Norwood would work, will check it out thanks. I feel like cycling to a shop and talking with humans rather than getting stuff delivered to my desk is the way to go.

I drink most stuff at work, so I don't imagine people would thank me for an electric grinder in the office, is the hand grinder a massive effort?

  • The dude didn't really have much to say about it but I was in buying a load of beer so grabbed a bag.

Hand grinding is fine for the odd cup, but a few cups or a cafetiere on a weekend morning were starting to be a pain in the arse, for me.

  • Volcano Coffee in Norwood. Very nice.

There is Spike Roastery over by Peckham Rye. Not tried that yet.
