  • Like this?

It's the breather or overflow, mine pissed diesel everywhere when I continued to fill past 60L as my tank was advertised to take 80.

  • that's the one. apparently it's the tank vent pipe. moral of the story: don't overfill the tank.

  • Every vehicle I've bought in last 3 years has been at utter twat to tax. Mostly as even with recently issued v5, it doesn't work on that website, or the phone service and you can't get hold of a person.
Only solution is to ask your post office (if you can find one that even does vcd) to tax it and tick the box that says "v5 present" meaning they are lying about it, but only way.

  • Same here really, I've either had to wait for the full v5 to arrive (citroen) or wait to get a v11 reminder. None of which have showed up in this case :/

  • remove everything apart from drivers seat, steering wheel and gear stick.

edit: and ensure full bowel motion before hitting the track.

  • Tax no longer transferable so if you've just bought the car you won't get a V11 unless you've taxed it in your name. This was done to make catching uninsured drivers easier, since you can't tax it without insurance.

  • Not going on the Ring, it's N24h weekend so it's not going to be open for TF.

I'm just more talking about the inevitable high speed hoon there. The 525d keeps up at the top end, it just takes an age to get there, whereas my mate's M235 is a fucking rocket.

  • my advice still stands - substitute 'track' with 'autobahn' ;)

  • Can't he just wait for you at the inevitable traffic light/jam/etc ?

  • Ask Neil if you can take his 911?

Which everyone on this thread knows you are actually doing in a subtle way.

  • Haha I'm not, if I wanted a 911 I'd just take my dad's, it won't fit 3 people and their camping gear.

And I won't ask to borrow his Volvo because it's actually clean now and from what I've heard the Nurburgring campsite is just one big mud-fest so I wouldn't want his car to get extremely filthy again.

  • I was actually trying to show myself that buying a 3rd car just for N24h is a stupid idea

  • I got a v11 for the mini within about 5 days of buying it to remind me to make a SORN. With the Citroen I simply waiting for the v5c then taxed it with that.

  • Why not see if your mate with the M235 will swap over with you for some sections, or on the way back?

Or just, you know, suck it up.

  • Spent all day on the phone and I've sorted out the tax for the landrover and have a new logbook on the way. They basically admitted their error and said 'oh we've just received the application (which I never made) and you should have it in a few weeks'

In the meantime I've spent 2 days trying to contact the people who clamped me and they've not answered the phone once. When am I within my rights to remove the clamp myself? I can do so without causing any damage to it.

  • Is it a private company clamp?

  • Do you have evidence of your attempts to contact them?

If so, take it off now.

  • IANAL

  • It's OK, mate with Stagea has got back to me, shall be going with RB power.

  • same occasionally.

  • ALL SORTED.

Tax done, clamp off and fine reduced from £260 to £100.

  • They still fined you?! On what grounds, I thought it was their fuck up?

  • tell them to get fucked!

  • They argued that I could have gone to the post office and had it sorted out by applying for a new v5c saying I'd lost mine and paid the fee for a new one. I guess I could have, didn't fancy trying to argue any further. Just happy to have my car released.

  • New toy from a colleague at work. Still in the wrappings and never been used.
