Spoke to this guy at length about trump during a cab ride. "Him send immigration to my temple a week ago, them take 27 people and put in jail. Friends who lived here almost 30 year. Trump he very bad. All the poor, all the muslim, they very not happy".
He suggested we go to Bangalore on our next holiday.

As Gary Lineker said 5 hours ago. So I'm as funny as Gary Lineker but five hours later.

Former PM, later foreign secretary Bildt on Twitter

Edit: depressing comments as expected. Bunch of Swedes saying we are under attack from uncontrolled immigration etc.
@spindrift thanks man. It won't really be dark for another hour here. But we'll feel your support when it does :)

It's just so frustrating. I can't really make a difference until FB sets up a Swedish flag filter.

Trump is now blaming Fox for fake news. It's come to the point where he does not attend security briefings but watches Fox instead.

To be fair, quite a few news outlets guessed that's what he meant, but everyone decided to pile in on the 'fake trumpery' because it's cathartic.
I don't know how wise it is, though. It's just emphasizing the polarisation.
-

Emphasize away I say. Why would one not want to be antipolar to Trump et al? See the time article @dancing james posted earlier, the guy puts it well comparing the stuff happening now (adjusting to the new administration) to the beginning of historical dictatorships.
-

Because there's no chance of decoupling a nascent dictator (if that is what he his) from his power base if through polarisation you drive them further into his arms.
Every civil war and dictatorship I've ever read about starts with this extreme polarisation. I don't want to play a part in amplifying it, I want to find out how to derail it.

Intriguing story about the 'fake news' industry. It's a long read.
Articles about Sweden and immigration are often popular among Trump supporters in the USA. Ivan noticed the trend when he shared a piece saying that ”many towns in Sweden banned the use of Christmas lights on the streets to avoid offending the millions of Muslim migrants that have flooded their country in the last two years.”
In reality the Swedish Transport Administration had decided not to use their lampposts for Christmas decorations in certain Swedish towns because the poles were not considered strong enough to carry the weight of the lanterns.
Ivan’s article, saying that Muslims were the reason for the ban in Sweden, became his first big success.
“It went totally crazy”, Ivan says. “I earned a month’s salary in one day. I had never made that much from a single article before.”
