You not thought about getting a 853 rourke built? Get braze ons for your brakes? Room for 32s easy. Audux framesets that is.

its exactly whats happening but instead of Rourke its Winston when he is back from Goa. Not decided on tubing .. maybe a mix of lugged and fillet frame .. fork will defo be flat crown (either pacenti or something similar and less 'wide').

Never heard of Winston, I assume he's great as you've chose him.
Forget tubing for a sec, you got geo sorted yet?

I want to have dynamo lights on this. How do I go about with internal routing?
These look decent enough:

Or this: https://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=143964 (although no idea what the diff is between the two) -

Nice combo, I have it on my Vagabond. Nice to be able to run the front light upside down too, you just flip the mount. Makes mounting to a rando rack easy. SON SL is pretty, slick and foolproof.

Any pic?

For a summer bike?

• #440
hmm you are not wrong sir .. maybe I'll just get a dynamo wheel built for the winter/disc bike and keep this minimal. I should've done it when I got that one built.

Might be worthwhile considering having the frame made with internal routing options so you can run dynamo lights when a future need arise?

Difference between the two dynamo hubs you linked to is the power output.
The 1st (PV-8) is designed for 3W output on a 700c wheel. The second (SV-9)is the lighter/ lower resistance hub but has less power output for the same speed as it is designed for 20" or smaller wheels. Worth considering the second if you think you'll be riding at a reasonable speed as opposed to loaded cyclotouring crusing.

In which case how would the routing work? Entry hole at NDS fork blade, exit at top somewhere for front light, what about rear?

I've never done myself as the vent hole on my Surly with dynamo lights is tiny and I can't get the cables through. I just zip tied to trailing edge of fork.
For internal I think it would be into bottom of fork leg. Out the bottom or side of the crown. Then light from front light to rear would feed into main frame a la di2 type grommet. Then out where you want it in the rear.
So for you future proofing. I'd say access grommets for the cabling and thought into fork design to allow easy routing. However if you're going carbon fork I'm not sure. Perhaps wind-up can be made w access ports?

It will have steel forks 100%.
That sounds good! Will have a think and do some diagram-y things. Thank you.

That looks like an old, Indian 6pt.

Amey remember as this is the lightest steel bike with Paul brakes in the world you'll need to push 3 watt/kg to ensure the dynamo lights up
