Not just you. I had to cut one a stronglight crankset off a bike due to sripped threads from the self extractor dust caps.
Buy a crankpuller and bin the self extracting caps. You can use an old spoke cut down and bent into a U shape - insert into the holes of the dust cap and twist to remove them..
That's what I did. I'm concerned the puller will also just pull out as the threads get destroyed once the inner pin is pressed into the bottom bracket axle.
crank pullers engage more threads, so less likelyhood of stripping. the story that stronglight threads strip is ancient though, really bad pr and form of them.
