Hmm that's interesting. Mine's mounted out the front of a rando rack too. Hadn't noticed the flashing lights till I used panniers instead of the rack bag, which obscured the rear of the light.
Can't see anything about it in the user manual or on the website. Wonder if it's a glitch with the daytime/nighttime sensor?

I think there is such a feature - at least I've noticed the same behavior on mine.
But I think it's very much linked to where the lamp is affixed. I had it on the front of the rack, and since I've moved the lamp to the fork's crown, I haven't noticed it.
