Thanks that's good.
CR is 56:36 W. Sybrandy so you need to be a monster to go under the hour.

Yeah I've just had a look at the top 10 on strava etc. Pretty scary stuff. I think I'll do a recce next weekend at sub-threshold to get an idea of things.

So, 54:42 for you then?

• #14681
Come on Skinny, sub 55 please.

Strange question - was this bike for sale on eBay recently! I was tempted to put a cheeky bid on it but the price rocketed in the last few hours!

I only just blew the dust of my tt bike
I'll try to get round without falling off. No chance of getting near wouts time.

Anyone in the market for a rear Hed 3?
Tubular, Shimano 8/9/10 speed.
I bought it thinking it was a freewheel model I could convert to a front, but it's not.

First TT of the year done - the Ely Hardriders 25. I hadn't quite finished rebuilding the P2, so I did it on my road bike (the S2). 1:08:48. 4 minutes slower than last year, but then last year I was on the P2. It was bogging cold, very windy, and started raining/snowing at one point. It was nice when it was over.

Nice course that. Love the bike the runs along the river.

100 Foot Bank? Yeah, it's, err, character-forming. It's part of my standard 20 mile training loop, so I do it at least once a week normally. There was a tail wind down there today so 40kph+ even on a road bike. Although I've never tried it, I suspect the overall effect is similar to using a Kanga hammer directly on your 'nads for 10 minutes...

Ah I got confused, I thought it went along Queen Adelaide/branch bank way, but no. https://www.strava.com/routes/3697819
You live there? I went to Kings, spend my time rowing a bit. I didn't know cycling existed then. Lovely place.

• #14692
Yep. Lived in Ely for the last 12 years or so.

Such a nice city. Shame I was too young to appreciate the history then.
Great roads for training too. If the wind doesn't send you mentally insane! -

di2 tt levers arrived. My tt bike will now go around corners, and stop! Could be useful for NRHR!

Ah, headwinds are something to be embraced and cherished. They're the Fenland equivalent of climbs in weird places with bumpy ground. On days when there's a good stiff SW wind, I like to go up to Three Holes (yep, it's a place) and ride along Sixteen Foot Bank to Chatteris. 14.2km, dead straight, no shelter, straight into the wind. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, as @Cycliste and Nietzsche would claim.

just booked my (refundable) accommodation in Hull for Good Friday. Fingers crossed on getting a ride. Any tips for the V718 course?

There's time to be gained on the turn:
Don't hit the off ramp to hard at the bottom as it gets steeper. Ride up just to right of white line. Push on over top
Keep left over bridge so you can treat 2nd rab like a corner and turn in to apex
Big burst upto speed at top of slip then mini recovery
It's worth putting some big efforts in top minimise damage to your ave

Nice one. The Premier Inn is close by so should have time to do some practice the afternoon before.
In the meantime I took a clubmates advice and created the closest 10 mile loop I could that is flat and, early morning, should be relatively traffic (light) free.

Actual route is pretty minging from memory but that's not really the point.
Definitely possible.
