Cheers for confirming that, and I'm touched by your worry for my Brompton's poor little derailleur :)
-
• #2753
I did had a customer who have a short chain on it, removing it from the drop out end up disintegrating the derailleur.

• #2754
Right then - upgrades.
Kojaks - F+R or just front to reduce the chances of a rear puncture?
Think I'm gonna try and fit my spare Chorus cranks rather than put a 58t on the stock ones for now, CBA to mess with chains i think it'll be a bit too big.

So I've got a place in the Brompton World Championship :S

At the nocturne?

Fuck i didn't realise registration was already open/closed! 2018 then...
Might come watch.

It's part of Ride London - around St. James Park I believe...

Ah shame! I put LFGSS CC as my club :) I reckon we'd need a proper team to beat these guys (and Dr. Hutch and Millar). Anyone else signed up for it?

It's time my very old brompton got some love.
It needs new cranks and a rear wheel. at the same tim I think it's gonna go two speed.
What's a good non standard crank option?
And does anyone know if there's a hack to get a WI dos freewheel to work as a two speed wheel?
-
• #2761
Don't bother, stay with standard Brompton one, they're a good balance of speed, comfort and puncture resistance.
Kojak are fast but harsh at Brompton's recommended pressure, and not as puncture resistance as the standard one.
-
• #2762
Was gonna ask you about pressures - do you agree with 100psi?
Kojak are fast
All i need.
-
• #2763
Fast but fragile. After 3 punctures in a week I switched to Marathon Plus.
-
• #2764
I've had two punctures on the normal Brompton tyres in... 878 miles, according to Strava. One front and one rear. I did briefly fit a front Marathon (not plus), but it was horrible. Bugger all grip and felt very slow.

Was gonna ask you about pressures - do you agree with 100psi?
Personally, nope, I ride on around 70psi.
100psi is more of a fail-safe that the customer are less likely to pinch flat their inner tube.
100psi in slippery Farnham is asking for trouble!

• #2766
All i need.
If you wanna go fast, get a Bike Friday Pocket Rocket, or at least splash out on an English.
-
• #2768
100psi is fine for me, but then I'm 94kg or thereabouts.
-
• #2769
Are marathon pluses that bad?
-
• #2770
The profile is slightly too big and you might get rubbing on the rear frame around the chainstays, which is why Brompton stopped offering them.
-
• #2771
I get rub when out of the saddle with normal Brompton tyres. A little chirp on every other pedal stroke. It's happened since I first got it. Is that normal?
-
• #2772
I don't think thats normal, I certainly don't. Should have 4/6mm clearance depending on the side
-
• #2773
Sick watts. I climbed the 15% odd hill by my house seated today at about 60rpm, got some odd noises.

inspo
-
• #2775
I've got about 5mm clearance on one side and loads on the other. There's no play in the wheel bearing. Gotta be my mad watts/sheer fatness.
104 link.
It's quite important as the derailleur can only do so much.
