testerthing ads a mm to that but one can still peep the bearing from the side so not much use really.annoyingly again i also have quite a lot of play in the headset due to (presumably) using another fork race (correct chamfer, but with a cut so a bit more flexible in diameter) because the original one's fit was a bit too tight for the steerer.
i also have around a mm of space between forkcrown and headset. i reckon this is on purpose because i presume headset cup grinding on forkcrown wouldnt be much helping steering would it?
Put a 7mm piece of steerer down the hole and ride it like you stole it.
