  • Doesn't look like they have butted spokes. At least, if they do they're keeping awfully quiet about it. And 6061 isn't an ideal alloy for rims, although it's easy to work with.

But for 60 quid, what's not to like?

  • Buy so I can see what they're like in real life.

  • Yeah, the price is just ridiculous. No point relacing my hubs or anything, just replace 'em. I'm down in Bath at the moment, you racing the 2/3 tomorrow? I'm in the 4, looks like some of the DRK lads are in.

@Sumo sure thing, I'm going to buy them and you're welcome to have a spy any time.

  • Lots of reviews on wiggle say they are a bastard to get tyres on

  • I put this down to people being fucking useless. Tubeless rims gunna tubeless rim, you just need the thumbs.

  • Never skip thumb day.

  • Zipp 808 - Is this a recalled hub?

  • People are stupid.

Why would you buy 24mm wheels and fit 23c tyres.

  • Nothing wrong with that - Ive used a 20c on a 24mm rim. User is an idiot.

  • 23mm is fine, just that particular customer is an idiot.

  • Thinking about buying some Yoeleo wheels instead of my Cosmics from last year.
The Cosmics are pretty narrow at 13 internal width, which makes it a problem for running wider tyres.
Does it make sense to buy new wheels or am I making a problem out of nothing?

  • Balls :/ - How long did yours take? Is there a recall cutoff?
If not, I'll sort it out after this TT season...

  • Mine took about 6 weeks between dropping them off and getting the call they were ready. No idea if there's a time limit on getting the recall work done. Since it's safety-related, I'd guess not, but I don't know for sure.

  • bear in mind that they are to be send to Portugal, which is why it take a handful of weeks.

Not really, you can still run 28mm on it as other have done in the past.

  • Thanks for the info chaps!

Another, possibly silly question, but does the recall and replacement process include wheel rebuild by Zipp, or do they just sort you out a new hub?..

  • Wheel rebuild by Zipp. I just took my 3 wheels down to Evans, got a receipt, Evans rang about 6 weeks later, I went and picked them up all rebuilt and everything. All jolly straightforward. And big kudos to Evans, as none of the wheels were bought from them.

  • If you're running tubs, leave them on when you drop it off to be sent to Zipp.

  • what £ would I expect to fetch for a second hand pair of Superstar ARC 22's? Bearings are good as new, rims pretty good nick, and i've just fitted a new freehub body.

I bought them for £210(rrp 229) they seem to be massively more expensive now?!

  • They were just in a half price sale for all of January, for about £150 I think. Maybe they upped the price before the sale..?
