Because you didn't ride the 4-5hrs hard enough and the laziness that remained in your body fell into your legs because gravity. This laziness slows time at your leg muscles and so it feels like you're moving them faster than you actually are.
Basically, you're legs are too fat and slow for the normal physical model of the universe.
Can someone explain to me in nice cycle training bollocksy terms with lots of acronyms why it is that 2-3 days after a big 4-5 hour ride I feel like a beast on the bike?
