Cheers, got myself a card and then realised that, theoretically, my motherboard does sound over DVI so I could have used a DVI to HDMI cable.
Realistically that could lead to a load of EDID issues (it goes into an amp first) and would probably have eaten up some of the processor performance which I don't want (the machine is also my plex server) so not too fussed about it.
