Why no Fatmax bro?
I bought this one because it locks to cut a rubber floor and it's my fave... http://www.screwfix.com/p/stanley-fatmax-pro-retractable-knife/67889 -

Mine is excellent at lacerating my middle finger, twice in quick succession. I think I was getting a bit lackadaisical when I was opening it. I now make a conscious effort not to imitate a Transformer and open it up with less aplomb.

Funny you should say that, I lost mine for about six months... Fortunately it reappeared...

Why no Fatmax bro?
Because I'll probably get one. I'm looking for alternatives.
The Gerber looks nice but it's too lightweight for me. I work in Facilities Management so it'll take a beating.

I bought a whetstone at the weekend and successfully managed to make my sharpening-practice knife more blunt than it was already.
Could someone point me in the direction of a video which highlights a "correct" technique to use for sharpening double-bevelled kitchen knives using a whetstone? One which talks about how much pressure to apply, which direction to drag etc.

Gerber Eab Light
I was going to say no need to spend on a brand for something using Stanley blades, but actually they're pretty cheap.
I'd be inclined to get something like that that can go in a pocket.
I was watching something yesterday about oil blackening for bolts, and it made me wonder why non-stainless knives don't do the same thing?

Gerber EAB normal is less mall ninja and will take a fat max blade.

I found these really informative but nothing can substitute someone showing you... a while back a bunch of LFGSS met in the Reeg pub and got shown the ropes by @LHL. Maybe it's time for a refresher...

Modified SAKs might be a repost but this has always seemed original especially when it's done with such skill

Nice. I've seen his work before, and it inspired me to have a go at my own:

Do you take requests?

Do you make your own scales too? I think most of his mods are a new blade and then scales
Suggestions for a good 'Stanley' knife for work? Apart from 'Fat Max'.
