breaking up with your live-in girlfriend, sleeping on friends sofas and eating one meal a day for 4 months
its a strong diet plan honest

That sounds rubbish. I don't think I'll try that.

In which case, congrats on getting back up to a healthy weight

I switched to a Keto diet in December after Christmas this year, I have lost just over a stone already and two inches round my waist. I am fed up of yo-yoing every year and making myself miserable counting calories to get in shape again.
I know two people who have done it with great results >15kg loss, which helped as I could get advice from them suggestions on foods etc.
Cant recommend it enough, I'm eating far better, but also don't feel like I'm dieting at all. It's probably not for everyone, but I'm finding it really works for me, now I'm adapted to the diet I don't even feel like I need or even want carbs.
My new target is to get to a much healthier 80kgs for starters (currently at 89kg) which previously would have felt like an impossible target.

There's some nice banana nut and rice cake recipes if you fancy a healthier training food :)
Refuelling with cakes is a dangerous path ;)

Where do you plan to race? I'm aiming to do a fair bit around London and maybe the odd further afield so just wondering if our paths cross...
I've largely given up on losing weight for the time being, been tracking it for about 5 months and despite fluctuations in healthyness and exercise over the period it's actually been pretty stable. Waiting for warmer times to see if I can drop it a bit...

It would be nice to try keto, but I reckon I'd find it hard, esp as I'm currently veggie and looking at vegan.
Humoured myself by working through this calculator:

Agreed, just easier to make excuses to yourself when you are training for an ironman and know you'll burn whatever you eat!

Yep, the general trend in the last 5 years has always been generally downward, but I prefer to think of it as cyclical! More padding/resistance in winter and then leaner in the summer!

That has put my Wife off, she is veggie and would struggle I think. That said lots of Quorn foods would work as they are relatively low in carb but high in fibre. Vegan would be tough though I think.

I followed this for quite a while. You have to like eggs and avocados, and its not cheap because of it, but for a few weeks its pretty manageable

I'm currently on a 'slow-carb' diet, which isn't far off Keto. You eat lentils and legumes though which keeps you out of ketosis.
Its working amazingly for me, so much more energy, no slumps in the afternoon and barely any hunger between meals. Most importantly, no more Mr HANGRY.

Most importantly, no more Mr HANGRY.
This had been key improvement for me too haha.
I'm finding similar, no snacking at all now and my energy levels have increased massively.

Basically been my diet for four years now. Over 100kg to 78kg without feeling like I've deprived myself too much but losing weight does mean being hungry at times.
Wheat has basically gone - replaced by pulses to fill me up at most meals and oats at breakfast.
Hardly drinking helps too. The liver can't process fat when it's processing alcohol.

Not drinking and riding a bit more in January only and I've dropped about 4kg, which was entirely late '16 booze and inactivity weight. Have gone from my heaviest ever at Christmas to sneaking up on race weight again... am now 62.4kg, if I can get sub 60 then hill climb season is fucking ON this year.

Thanks to some shitty luck with my health and a big dollop of work related stress/depression resulting in near constant migraines which put me in bed for nearly 3 months continuously last year I am basically now as fat as I was before my dad had his stroke in 2010 which was the original catalyst that kickstarted my weight loss which led to me taking up running and cycling and finding lfgss.
Running and cycling are still possible but carrying this much weight take their toll. I can ride to work and back (12 miles each way) but am literally crawling along by the time I get home in the evening and wiped out for a few days after.
So step one is get the diet back under control and lose enough weight to comfortably get back to running 5k as/when I want to and commuting at least once a week by bike. I also need to be able to fit back into my exercise clothes as I have some much of the shit I'm not buying any more in 2xl just to use for a couple months.
a little over a year ago I tried to get a handle on things (which at the time were still nowhere near as bad as they were now) and I used something called the maffetone 2 week test to cut out loads of shit (some good, mostly bad) and see how I felt on a low-carb, no sugar diet. the results were good and for a few months after I was eating pretty healthy but not serious enough about it to drop the weight I had let slowly creep up.
Last monday (2017-01-30) I decided enough was enough and restarted the maffetone 2 week test to give myself a hard-reset and break my bad food habits in one-fell swoop.
going to try to be as public about my weight loss as possible to stop myself slipping into bad habits and fingers crossed I can pull what I now refer to as 'doing a tibbs' and get into decent shape like a boss.
Weight Loss:
31/01: 125KG (29.8% BF) //Starting Weight
08/02: 120.07KG (28% BF)BF% is from fitbit scales and likely nowhere near the truth but added for trending purposes.

the original catalyst that...led to me to...finding lfgss
Man, talk about hitting rock bottom
Jokes aside, you've done it before you can do it again, you have experience and wealth of knowledge on your side. Also your Body Fat % is quite reasonable considering, so you have a good base to work with.

yeah the bf% is bollocks. my big jelly beerbelly attests to that.

BTW there are a LOT of podcasts on youtube on fat loss. Keto, in general, is rarely needed. Same with Paleo or other pretty strict diets.
Lyle McDonald rapid fat loss is a safe extreme diet if you need to lose a lot of weight safely but can't exercise.
Fish oil is highly recommended by a shitload of trainers though: Boots high strength is good. Take 2 capsules at least.
Me? Trying to lose 4 lbs in 10 weeks. Not so easy as I have not been eating shit and not exercising the past years...I'll settle for inch loss too :)
Start: 68.5 KG

Today: 75.5 kg @ 21.5% body fat
New target: ~70 kg @ 14.5% body fatWhile maintaining lean mass for riding. Aiming to hit this for early June, should be sustainable? Feb has been okay so far, after a wobbly January, just have to keep the motivation up. Never not had a gut on me (except for after touring) so would really like to manage this.

I'm aiming to lose a couple of kilos (more wouldn't hurt though) by June for a mountains trip. Current weight is 68kilos. Target is 66kg or below.
I've stalled at 68kg and the thing I'm struggling with is keeping food intake in check as training load increases. I'm just not very good at being hungry.
Purely a willpower and discipline issue.
WTF, Rogan?? How did someone your size lose 12kg in 7 months?!
