That was the year I had a badly built rear wheel which was so wonky it was rubbing against the chainstay and I had to open the release on the rear brake to allow enough room for the wheel to be readjusted in the dropouts so it would rotate freely.
The walking was because I was fucked from having to ride with it rubbing for the first two thirds before I realised it was fucked...

I'm calling you out on this, the walking was because you'd just spent a few hours drinking Guinness with @jonny in a riverside pub. I remember that year well, your wheel was jammed up against the chain stay and we all guffawed about it while we drank.
