Kilvey is a great place to ride, it's technical, rocky, and challenging to ride well. Anyonce can bump and bounce down the trails in a haphazard fashion (I do this well) but to ride it fast takes skill and commitment.
It's best ridden on a full suss. I used to take my hardtail up there but it wouldn't be my weapon of choice.
If you're in the Swansea area you could join myself and few other guys for rides there and in Clyne.

The bike I just bought is a full suss, so should be good for that sort of stuff. The rider less so.....
