  • It is a wonderful Somec, among the earliest I have seen so far. For example I had never seen the S on the front lower lug of the headtube before.

Lovely paint and in amazing conditions, great groupset...definitely a bike worth keeping!

  • I got this instead :-p

Which I think is more modern. If you find another one with that logo, do let me know.

  • This on ebay! Dont sell it! keep and ride

  • Which is on ebay?;-)

  • I would keep it but I'm not the guy to have a bike like this. I'm into Italian transportation with a slightly different pony logo. The seats are a bit more comfortable. This bike would be better served in the hands of a true bike aficionado.

  • Sorry I took it off eBay. On some great advise I'll hold on to it till spring and sell it.

  • It's the latest Somec logo:

I'm owning this track frame now, gonna rebuild it with 1inch chromed plate fork and some C-record stuff..

  • I regard to the history of my bike I received this from Somec. Thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction.

    Ciao Kevin !

Congratulation for being the owner os such a Masterpiece ! It is always a great emotion for me to see our vintage bikes in so good shape.

This bike it is a Somec of the end 70' beginning 80'. The bike has been baught from our german reseller, Willi Singer from Augsburg-germany, (who was also a profi rider for a Bianchi team). Then he sold the bike to someone and now is yours.

The paint it is a special paint called "cromovelato" infact it is a transperent red. It was the best of that time.

The tubes as you can see are Columbus and the components are Campagnolo.

    Always at your disposal.

    Kind regards

    Somec/Lara

  • Impressive how they still keep track of sales happened 40+ years ago... Well done Somec.
If that's the correct saddle height, the bike appears to be too large for you, however, a bike in this age and conditions should be kept indoor, so don't feel guilty to not riding it. Rise the saddle and hang it on a wall at home! That's a really beautiful bike.

  • It's so nice that they reply like that.

  • It fits me very well I'm 6'3". I'm going to sell it and give it a proper home to a rider that will take care of it and keep it in the shape it's in. As I mentioned I'm a Ferrari and Maserati guy. I know cars not bikes but I definitely appreciate Italian craftsmanship.

  • You can check INBOX Kevin.
