Those are some fantastic photos! After a bit of searching around it's a toss-up between the XA and getting another Pentax...

XA sample and album full. Ask Tina says it's different to a P+S but not that different..... I find it very quick to shoot.

Sorry for the double post.

The XA2 is a cheap option. (amazing for street photography but I found the zone focus is a PITA for indoor stuff)

Thanks man.
Developed these myself, HP5 rated at 1600. Lots of these have bands that does either side. Any suggestions on what causes this?

Do you increase the contrast in post? If yes I think that whatever the cause it's exacerbated by post processing (it's most obvious on what I would guess is the thinnest neg) so it might not be a lot to worry about.
If it's only this roll, maybe it wasn't wrapped tight enough after shooting. If you think not that, you should probably check the light seals on the camera, and if OK, check that your light source for scanning is even.
(FWIW I get a similar problem on thin negs sometimes and in my case it's because my light source is slightly uneven, I fix it with a grad filter in lightroom.)

It's definitely worst on the thin negs, not great at guessing exposure for these side lit or back lit shots at 1600. I guess I should just aim to over expose as my 'scanning' seems to deal with it much better.

If you've checked and it shows on the negs then it sounds like fogging in camera. What camera? Horizontal shutter? Mirror foam? Too many questions?

I'm looking forward to buy a new rangefinder camera. Something cheap leastwise...

Leaf shutter and waist-level finder? Could there be leaks from above, past the glass/mirror?

Shot this on a half bust GR1 which I drunkenly loaded 800 ISO into with no manual over ride options (so it shot at 100 ISO).
God knows how that all worked.
Roman road.
