  • They're under no obligation to comment or speak to these news outlets.

Trump administration will most likely only ever speak to Fox from here on.

  • He added, “I am so behind you. I know maybe sometimes you haven’t gotten the backing that you’ve wanted and you’re going to get so much backing. Maybe you’re going to say, ‘Please, don’t give us so much backing. Mr. President, please, we don’t need so much backing.’”

    Lol

  • “I’m a person that very strongly believes in academics,” Trump said. “They say, ‘Is Donald Trump an intellectual?’ Trust me. I’m, like, a smart person.”

  • Trump administration will most likely only ever speak to Fox from here on.

Cool, so the forum'll be the first to know, @Fox?

  • Absolutely. There has been discussion about this, but if they're not going to hold actual press conferences there's no reason for them to be there. The video feed, as I understand it, is free to any press that wants it. I think CNN's decision to not show the press conference live, but rather moderate it first, was brilliant.

  • trumps press dept.

  • My favourite bit, what a clown... Oh, USA...

  • Because to say someone is lying you need evidence that they know they're not telling the truth. Trump may have been misinformed, I'm sure he's surrounded by people telling him what he wants to hear. Or he may just genuinely think it is the case - being wrong is not the same as lying.

But yes the media are saying fewer people attended his inauguration than Obama's. This is what we're saying FWIW:

Aerial photographs showed that the crowds for Trump's inauguration were smaller than in 2009.

  • They keep calling but I'm not answering the phone.

  • Like, duh, totally or whateverrrrrr.

  • The next four years are going to be involve a lot of carefully-worded fact-checking.

I remember having a similar issue when the head of a large FSU gas firm claimed that something was a fiction because IMHO he didn't want it to be true. I couldn't call him out for making shit up, though, so I basically pointed out that for his claim to be valid, hundreds and hundreds of people across various private companies and public agencies would all have to be part of a shadowy conspiracy to falsify international trade records and build fake energy infrastructure. Which made it fairly clear how much credence we gave his claim.

  • “I’m, like, a smart person”; and musing out loud about how many
    intelligence workers backed his candidacy.

“Probably everybody in this room voted for me, but I will not ask you
to raise your hands if you did,” Mr. Trump said. “We’re all on the
    same wavelength, folks.”

We're meandering into North Korea territory with this one...

  • You do know thats bollix for teh lulz?

  • TBH, I have no idea and somehow mistook this for the meme thread.

  • Someone posted this on my FB, some good points I thought.

"Things NOT to do when criticising Trump:
—Make fun of his body (body-shaming), incl.
—making fun of his fatness, present him in illustrations as fatter than in real life as if this is a sign of evil, or in any way related to what is wrong about him (fatphobia)
—Make fun of the size of his penis ("It Uses the [deeply patriarchal and toxic] Idea That Someone Isn’t ‘Manly Enough’ As an Insult," is transphobic, and body essentialism: JUST STOP. See article below)
—Make fun of his small hands (wtf? Can we all take a moment to see this one stems from the popular idea that size of hands reflects size of penis? See above. STOP.)
    —Make fun of his ability to have sex, whether he has sex, or what kind of sex he has p r o v i d e d i t i s c o n s e n s u a l (misses the point, and decentres the actual issue here: the rape/sexual assault allegations & his openly rapey ideology)
    —Say "Pussy grabs back":
What is it that we are grabbing exactly? (Rape Culture; not how this works)
—Make fun of Melania's accent / eloquence (xenophobia, classism), or focus on her appearance (misogyny, femmephobia) or overtly sexual photoshoots she has done in the past (slut-shaming, SWERF); Melania is not the problem here: centring her again misses the point. Stop treating her like an object that is attached to him, which the exact objectification/dehumanisation that you seem to oppose when it comes from him."

  • Can't make fun of the size of his hands? What have his hands got to do with his dick? Isn't the point that he was incredibly touchy (no pun intended) about the size of his hands and spent an inordinate amount of time refuting the fact that he's got pudgy little fingers?

Also, is being fat a good thing these days? I thought it was unhealthy?

  • Alot of the stuff directed at Trump is useless in the same way as the Cameron Pig story: stooping to a puerile level of debate with irrelevant insults that distract from the real harm they are doing.

I take your point however that the hand thing is a way of highlighting his petty sensitivities, a real and important weakness of his. The hand thing started when his rival Cruz said "you know what they say about guys with small hands", so yes, it was about his dick from the start.

  • No it didn't, it was from the article in which he was called a "short fingered vulgarian"

  • Fair point. Still definitely connected to his dick though.

  • Are people allowed to point out he is an utter idiot, misogynist, liar and so surrounded by "yes" men he is utterly deluded?
