  • It's a replica but this stopped me in my tracks this morning and I'm not a massive car fan.

  • Your a massive car fan .

  • That's fucking horrendous, if it would help I can say that there was no rear ending or reversing into anything on the journey back to South London?

I may well ask you to validate that statement - depends on how they react.

I've just been out, there's a crease in the bumper, it's been reversed into something around two feet high and a foot wide from what I can work out. I'm really angry whenever I think about it.

Moar fascinating photographs (if anyone cares): https://www.flickr.com/photos/8131181@N05/albums/72157675682777474

  • Sorry to hear this. That sort of thing is why we drive a secondhand Corsa. New ding in the door at a car park? Meh. Ignore it and move on.

Hard to imagine having a nice car in a city like this.

  • I had thought that the valet parking people would put the car in a car park to which only they had access, and would take care not to crash into anything - i.e. safer than leaving it in the long term parking. What's that Alannis Morrisette song?

  • Have you even seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off?

Sorry to hear it tho. I do wonder if the car is cursed.

    Take £10k for cash?

  • I don't think the car is cursed, I think that people, in general, need to take more care in what they do.

In that I include myself, as I should have gone round the car before leaving the car park - might well have made the current situation more straightforward in some ways.

No matter who pays for it I'll replace the bumper with a new one, get it repainted, I'm keeping the car.

  • That's the spirit.

They're dicks, don't let it spoil the enjoyment of the car.

  • I've used purple parking meet and greet at Heathrow quite a few times with no issue. I use the service when I have a bike in tow, as lugging a bike bag too and from the offsite car park 5 miles away is a real pain in the ass.

I always tape a note to the steering wheel to remind me to check the car before I leave, and also write the milege as of when I dropped it off.. I guess this also makes whoever moves the car think twice before ragging it about and/or crashing in to shit.

That was the M135 tho... I don't think anyone will be taking a diesel mini estate for a joyride.

Sorry for your continued bad luck with the Porsche!

  • Request ALL the CCTV?

  • I'd do everything to chase them for a repair but I'd also be very tempted to keep the old damaged bumper on - you know some other douche is going to hit it or back into it at some point.

You wouldn't like it quite as much if you had seen where your car was kept! The PP storage facility is a huge demolition site with no proper hardstanding, severely potholed roadways and poor security. The driver who meets you at the airport hands the car over to a lovely bloke at the other end who will 'drift' your car to its storage location.

Before returning the car, the staff will kindly pop some air your punctured tyres so you don't notice them for an hour or two and chuck a bucket of water over the car to hide it's been taken around the rally stage.

    Never use Purple Parking.

  • Hopefully I should have the preliminary findings from Heathrow tomorrow, I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised by how excellent their customer service is, and to have the car brought back to the condition it was in before I handed the keys to them

  • That is cool!

  • If anyone happens to spot a Porsche 996.1 narrow-body rear bumper (PU) in good condition please let me know.

  • Douglas Valley Breakers will have one, I'm sure.

  • Registered letter to registered office,

    to named MD,

Plus next day signed-for set of letters to the directors' home addresses sent on Friday to ensure their weekend gets off to a good start.

Sorry to hear about the car, it sucks.

  • In the next few weeks I'm looking to change my engine oil, gearbox oil, transfer case oil and diffs oils and I'm thinking about filtering them and mixing them in with some pump diesel and just running them through the engine as fuel. Has anybody here got experience doing this? Once the tank is full We'd be looking at 10L or so of used oil and 50L of pump diesel. Should run fine right?

  • Douglas Valley Breakers have got a Testarossa with evidence of front end damage being broken

  • Do you think the mafia turn up and bury them?

  • If you're changing them it's because they have broken down and are full of crap. Why would you want to run that through your engine?

  • Easy disposal and free fuel.

I'd definitely put them through a pretty fine filter first.
